One quick cut or a burst into the open field will make it obvious why Dee Delaney opted to rip off the bandage and put his freshman phenom behind center. When you have a talent like Bronner, you have to make sure he touches the ball on every snap, because every time he touches it, there’s a chance he might score.

Delaney hasn’t fully let go of the reins yet, and the Warriors’ offense remains super run-heavy, but he has a strong arm and has shown enough in the passing game to believe he can develop into a true dual-threat. In the meantime, he’ll pick his spots for air attacks and do most of his damage on the ground.

If Bronner doesn’t stick at quarterback, he will quickly fall into another role and could be dangerous as a receiver or running back as his career progresses.

The vast majority of the Warriors’ offense this season has been achieved by underclassmen, and Bronner is the biggest piece of it all.

Whale Branch has no issue with it – even with the squad dropping four of its first five games – because this is the long play. Keep in mind that those losses came to likely small-class playoff squads Battery Creek, Blackville-Hilda and Woodland, as well as Class 4A Beaufort. Bronner’s had his ups and downs while playing through the learning curve, but the game is starting to slow down.

His best individual game came against Beaufort (182 yards combined), but his cleanest one came in the team’s win against Barnwell on September 18. That night, he completed five-of-seven passes for 60 yards and a score and rushed for another 70 yards and a touchdown.
