Cherry’s development over the past season or 2 has been great to see. He’s gone from a big framed guy to a menace on the field for opposing defenses. He’s played on the inside and outside of the line and had success. He’s great in the running game and can always be relied on as well. I like Cherry, his size, and how far he’s come and I feel like this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Cherry is someone we highlighted coming into the season with potential, and so far, he’s lived up to that potential. He’s starting on the left side for Merrillville and doing a good job in the running game. He’s got a good first step and can clear his man in the running game. The pass protection footwork is a work in progress, but he’s young, putting in the work, and improving rapidly. I do think he fits more of the mold to be an interior lineman, but playing tackle and having success is always a great sign.

Cherry strikes me as someone who could be a late developer, but when that development happens it will be special. He’s got a big frame that he’s still growing into. He’s got very long arms that seem to continue to stretch. His hands are massive and he’s still in a growing phase. He’s also got very strong hands and once he latches onto a defender they have a heck of a time trying to break free. Once he gets up to speed with all of the little nuances of playing up front, Cherry will explode.
