VanHoesen impresses me with his film. Measuring in at 5’8 160-pounds, last season he went 54/118 for 819 yards, 45.8% completion rate, 8 TDs, 4 INT. Good athletic ability due to very good balance, acceleration, good speed, and change of direction. He creates plays out of nothing. Very good throw power with very good release. I’ve spoken before on his anticipation with his throws, leading the receiver. Very good ball placement skills. VanHoesen has good progression speed. Stays poised in the pocket, and has good pocket mobility. Very good under pressure. Launches the ball downfield with edge rushers in his face. Valley has a good one on their hands, and I’m very intrigued with his development going forward.

VanHoesen is an exciting young QB on the Colorado scene. Freshmen quarterbacks rarely impress me, but he left a strong statement with his film. He measures in at 5’8 160-pounds. Last season, he went 54/118 for 819 yards, 45.8% completion rate, 8 TDs, 4 INT. He has good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, balance, good change of direction, and speed. Very good throw power with a quick release. VanHoesen has a very good anticipation on his throws, throwing before the receiver is even open. Good throw on the run, both left and right. He has good progression speed with good pocket presence. Very good under pressure. He’s fearless. Defenders will be in his face, and he’ll still make the completion downfield. If no one’s open, he’ll use his very good scramble ability and run for a first down. Kid has potential to a be a stud, and he has a bright future ahead of him.

With a 50% completion rate for 698 passing yards and 8 touchdowns to just 1 interception, he has shown both confidence and poise beyond his age. VanHoesen’s arm strength allows him to push the ball downfield and challenge defenses vertically, while his decision making continues to sharpen with each game. The fact that he is producing at this level so early in his career speaks volumes about his potential.
