Expert Analysis
Paul Gregorian | Prep Redzone Scout
Recent Offers: Cal Poly, Fresno State, Colorado State
Notes: The central valley product is one of the top edge rushers in the class across Norcal and should end up in the FBS ranks once he graduates. He has violent hands, solid bend and a explosive get off while also stout against the run with a variety of different moves in his toolbox. He should be one of the top breakout guys across the valley this fall and is poised for a monster season.

The Clovis East product is one of the top players on the edge in the 2028 class across California, and he should see plenty of FBS offers flying in through his junior season and through the fall. He is a twitchy and explosive player with a quick first step, quick hands and natural bend/hip turn around the corner and can collapse the pocket quickly and counter back inside when needed. He is strong and powerful against the run, has a quick lockout and plays with good eyes and the ability to take on double teams/drive blocks with ease. McDermott is always round the ball, reads blocks quickly and already has a few pass rush moves in his toolbox as a young player. Fresno State has already offered and he should draw plenty of P4 attention as well as his recruitment starts to pickup.

The Clovis-East product is one of the top players in the central valley and is a violent striker off the edge with heavy hands, reset abilities and is stout against the run while able to single and multi-gap inside if need be. In pass rush situations he has an elite first step get off, natural bend around he corner and can go speed to power into tackles when holding the point and has a few pass rush tools in his box heading into his Junior year. He has the frame to continue packing on weight over the next two seasons, and could play on the outside or kick inside depending on how he grows and develops. He checks into rankings as a top 12 player at his position and should be seeing his stock rise this off-season.
