An unranked offensive tackle prospect currently listed at 6’4, 265 pounds with an impressive 3.75 GPA and honors student status. A completely new name to me, discovered while working through his team’s Hudl roster. He originally posted his sophomore highlight tape back in May, which helps explain why he hadn’t appeared on my radar until recently. Still, considering his physical profile, academic achievements and developing recruiting interest, I’m genuinely surprised I hadn’t heard more about him before this past week. That is an oversight on my behalf, especially for a young offensive lineman who already appears to be attracting attention from Division I programs.
His recruiting activity is particularly encouraging. He recently attended a game day visit at Columbia University and received an invitation from Colgate in mid September. He also appears to have been fairly active on the college camp circuit throughout the summer, giving programs opportunities to evaluate his physical tools and movement ability in person. That level of activity, combined with his size and academic profile, makes him an interesting prospect within the FCS recruiting landscape. At 6’4, 265 pounds, he already possesses a frame worth monitoring, and the fact that college programs are beginning to show interest suggests there may be considerably more to his game than I’ve had the opportunity to evaluate so far.
What surprises me most is the lack of updated film from his current season. He has only two individual game cutups available on Hudl and hasn’t put together a complete midseason highlight reel. For a prospect with this kind of physical profile and apparent Division I recruiting interest, I would love to see more substantial footage by this point in the schedule. A midseason tape would give me a much better opportunity to evaluate his movement ability, footwork, hand placement, balance and overall effectiveness at offensive tackle. I want to see how he handles different types of edge defenders, whether he can consistently maintain leverage in pass protection and how effectively he moves defenders off the line of scrimmage in the running game. Those are the details that will ultimately determine his collegiate ceiling, and they are difficult to assess confidently without a larger collection of game reps.
I’m already inclined to consider him for an initial ranking based on his physical attributes, the summer camp footage I’ve been able to find and the recruiting traction he is receiving from FCS programs. However, I don’t want to assign a grade based exclusively on measurements, camp appearances and college interest. I need to see how those traits translate to actual game situations before determining where he belongs among Pennsylvania’s offensive line prospects. There is a difference between looking the part physically and consistently demonstrating the technique, athleticism and physicality required to succeed at the next level. His current profile gives me plenty of reason to believe he could become a recruitable offensive tackle, but I want the film to support that projection.
This is definitely a player I’ll be monitoring closely over the coming weeks, likely checking back on his Hudl regularly to see whether additional single game cutups or a complete midseason tape become available. His combination of size, academics, summer camp activity and early FCS recruiting interest makes him one of the more intriguing new names I’ve come across recently. I’m particularly interested in getting a clearer understanding of how well he moves at 265 pounds and whether his technique is developing at the same rate as his physical profile. I expect there is a strong possibility he will eventually find his way into our rankings, but I want to make that decision with a more complete evaluation in hand. Very intrigued by this prospect and looking forward to learning more about him.
