Expert Analysis
Michael Huntley | Prep Redzone Scout
Hurst led Orange County in passing touchdowns last season with 45 and averaged 270 yards per game for a very good Laguna Beach team.
He has offers from UNLV and some Ivy League schools, but quarterbacks who had offers have competed in the All Star game before and I think Hurst would enjoy the opportunity to compete.

Recent Offer: UNLV
Notes: Hurst is one of the more natural throwers across Southern California in the ’27 class and can zip the ball out quick with a quick release and good arm strength downfield. Look for other FBS/FCS programs to come in and offer this off-season as the Laguna Beach product should have a breakout off-season and be a key name to note on the camp circuit.

Hurst was heavily considered for MVP and was throwing the best balls consistently throughout the day. His arm strength has improved greatly since he competed in a Prep Redzone camp in January. He was throwing well on the run with accuracy and had nice touch on the deep throws. His timing could have been better in the half-line and 7-on-7 portion, but he was hitting guys in stride and drawing praise from the coaches.

Hurst got some meaningful reps for Laguna Beach as a sophomore despite playing behind a quarterback who was a Power 4 commit.
He completed 63 percent of his passes for 620 yards with 9 touchdowns on just 34 completions. Hurst’s release is slow but he can put some zip on his throws. He has patience and waits for the play to develop and makes the correct reads.
Hurst had a solid showing at the Prep Redzone Stock Up Showcase in January and has the frame to add some muscle and grow into his body.
