This ranking might be more of a placeholder for now. This season we are going to learn a lot more about the QB out of Mt. Horeb/Barneveld as he works to take over the starting job. While he isn’t the biggest prospect, Harvey has done a really good job of filling out his 5’10” frame to 180 lbs. He is still able to be quick on his feet so that he can set and throw instantly. That added size has helped him get more velocity into his passes and open up more of the field to him. This season we are going to see how well that arm talent translates to the varsity level. He will have several big time talents to target, so the stage is set for him to have a strong first year at the helm.
Size is going to give people concerns, but when I turn on the tape those concerns are at least slightly mitigated by a kid that has shown to have a capable arm. One that can put it on a rope to the short and intermediate levels, and when he can step into it can loft the ball deeper downfield. The ’28 also has mobility and overall athleticism on his side to be able to move in the pocket, buy time, and pick up yards with his legs. The kid clearly has put in time to hone his mechanics too. I’m interested in seeing how he performs with the QB1 job if he is able to win it.
