When you turn on Haedyn’s film, his comfort level in coverage immediately stands out. He shows he can line up in press, play off coverage, or use catch technique depending on what the receiver gives him. He does a good job staying patient, keeping himself in position, and making receivers work for every yard. His ability to adjust his approach while maintaining good technique shows a strong foundation, and as he continues to refine the small details, his ceiling continues to rise. Patterson is a sticky defender, who plays with physicality at the point of attack and he has the speed to run with receivers down field in coverage. He has fluid hips with clean footwork and he has the ability to stop, cut and redirect quickly allowing him to stay engaged with receivers in coverage. Patterson is a sure tackler who is stout against run and he tackles well in the open field. Haedyn is a special teams threat, he has excellent vision with the wiggle to make defenders miss in the open field and he has speed to break off big runs for scores. His freshman stats were highly productive, registering 31 tackles, 14 solo tackles, an interception, 10 PBUs and a touchdown.
