Expert Analysis
Sam Erman | Prep Redzone Scout
Few players will have the level of production as Boling does when it’s all said and done. He’ll be a 4-year starter on both sides of the ball and a true workhorse. As a freshman, he put up 54 tackles and then has doubled that since. 125 as a sophomore and 138 as a junior with 13+ TFLs in each season. He’s then added some TE work to his game where he put up 454 yards and 12 TDs last season. He’s tough, willing to do the dirty work, and is a great player who doesn’t get enough credit.

Boling is one of the best linebackers in the class and is coming off of another good year. He’s well-built, looks good, and checks quite a few boxes. He’s highly productive on Friday and you can see everything he’s coached up to do. His mechanics are solid and he doesn’t miss open field tackles. He knows how to rip the ball out and force a turnover. He was one of the most consistent guys in the 1-on-1s and drills and could have won MVP as well. Boling is going to be a good football player for years to come.

Boling is quietly putting together one of the better careers in the 2026 class, but since he’s hidden down South doesn’t get the eyes. This is year 2 of 100+ tackles and 10+ TFLs. He leads his defense and they turn to him for answers and he’s not afraid to be vocal on the field. He’s improved on his sophomore numbers and will very likely surpass 250 tackles and 25 TFLs over the past 2 years alone.

The Junior linebacker is taking a big step forward this year and showcasing his full potential. He’s a high-IQ player who doesn’t make the same mistake twice. He’s strong enough to succeed in the trenches and bring down the ball carrier. He’s got the range to run with them in the second levels. Boling has a fantastic feel in the box and when it’s time to bail. He’s 2nd in the state in solo tackles for that reason. With 101 total tackles right now, 70 being solos, 3 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 passes deflected, Boling is playing lights out.

Boling really stands out from a height perspective on Scottsburg’s defense. He is very good run defender and consistently wraps up ballcarriers. He has good instincts and great awareness, with ability to quickly read, react and diagnose on the run. He also contributes on offense as a receiver where he flashes soft hands around the end zone.
