Offensive Line/Defensive Line
About Finley
What's your biggest strength as a player, and how does it show up in games?
I think my biggest strengths are my size, athleticism, and football IQ. I’m still growing and working to get stronger and more athletic, but I’ve always been a fast learner. Playing center, I take pride in understanding defensive fronts, recognizing what the defense is doing, and making the right calls for our offensive line. I also work hard on having accurate snaps and being a leader.
What are you working to improve right now?
I’m working on becoming a more complete offensive lineman. I spend a lot of time on strength and conditioning because I want to keep improving my strength, explosiveness, speed, and overall athleticism. I’m also working on my technique, especially leverage, hand placement, footwork, and finishing blocks.
What are you looking for in a college program?
A place where I can continue to develop as an offensive lineman and as a student. I want to play for coaches who care about developing me as a man, have high standards, and build a strong team culture. A high standards program where everybody works hard, supports each other, and competitive. Academics are also important to me, and want to find a school where I can meet my goals.
Outside of your sport, what should coaches know about you?
I love being around people and being part of my community. I enjoy helping coach younger kids and being someone they can look up to. I’m also a big outdoors person. I enjoy fishing, camping, hunting, and water sports. I love my church community and following Jesus. I think being a follow of Christ and letting Him lead my life is just as important as being a good football player.
What do you want to study, and what career interests you?
I’m really interested both health and computer sciences and technology. I’d like to learn more about what I could do with that as a career. I also enjoy working with younger kids and teaching them, so I could see myself becoming a teacher someday. I’m not completely sure what career I want yet, but I want to keep learning and find something that I’m passionate about and good at.
