Expert Analysis
Matt DeBary | Prep Redzone Scout
A productive junior in the secondary to keep a close eye on in 2026, Spann is a natural playmaker in the secondary who can play the ball in the air and make a big, strong tackle against the run. One of the top returning defensive backs in the Albany-area, Spann has a natural feel for the game with above average size and athleticism at 6-foot-2 180-pounds. Now ranked as the No. 52 DB prospect in the state, Spann showed easy D1-caliber talent and potential last season, making 76 tackles, two INTs, two forced fumbles and two more fumble recoveries. Look for his stock to continue rising over the spring and into next season.

A big, hard-hitting defensive back from Albany, Spann is a 2027 defender on the rise who can make plays in several different ways. He’s a reliable defender in coverage, shows above-average athleticism, and the ability to make a big tackle. A natural playmaker and a sure-tackler in the open field, Spann made an impressive 76 tackles with two INTs and six pass deflections to go along with two forced fumbles and two more fumble recoveries. He’s an active, physical safety at 6-foot-2 180-pounds with his best football still way ahead of him. He earned an offer from Mississippi State recently and should see more come his way over the next few months and into the summer. He’ll also be added to the next 2027 Prep Redzone rankings.
