Stat Line: 8 Tackles, 2 TFLs, 1 Sack
Freshman edge/LB Elijah Gaona just hit our radar last week and was apart of our Freshman Friday article leading into Week 5. That same night the 2030 defender went off in a big win over Kenosha Bradford. Elijah fit right alongside the upperclassmen on the Case defense with his outstanding 5’11” 220 lbs frame. I loved the relentless motor that shows up every play. Elijah did a great job of playing with active hands and that led to him being able to quickly defeat blocks and then use his quickly developing athletic tools to get to the football. The freshman is so powerful too, showing that he could instantly clear the hands of the OT or violently shed them aside while running the edge. The 2030 defender is big, violent, and very strong for his age. I am fired up to see him getting varsity action so early in his career. He has a very high ceiling and bright future.

I have a feeling we are going to be talking about Elijah pretty often over the next 3.5 seasons. The 5’11” 220 lbs LB/RB is a menace on the field. He is very explosive when blitzing or filling against the run, closing like he is shot out of a cannon. The freshman plays with his hair on fire. His first step burst when rushing the edge flashes throughout the clips too. Then at RB the 220 lbs athlete easily runs through arm tackles like a hot knife through butter. This 2030 RB/LB is big, athletic, and violently powerful. No doubt he will be an impact player for the Eagles for years to come.
