The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Whelchel is one of the better 8-Man defensive prospects to watch in the coming years. Long and physical, he excels on both side of the ball. He has played all over the field as a tight end, offensive tackles, defensive end and as a linebacker.

He finished this past season with 65 tackles and 11 tackles for loss from his defensive end position. On offense he helped the Grizzlies with four receptions for 46 yards and two touchdowns. Look for those numbers to rise on both sides of the ball for his junior season campaign.

Whelchel was honored as a All-Northern Plains League DE. Colleges will definitely be beating down the door for him as the seasons go on and he further fills out his elite frame.
