Hunt’s sophomore season of 2025 could very well foreshadow a breakout this coming fall. The Waverly-Shell Rock safety contributed 13.5 tackles, eight of which were solo stops. He also delivered a tackle for loss. His 10th-grade highlight video reveals a versatile defender adept at coming up to stuff the run or dropping back in coverage to stick with receivers. The first clip shows him diagnosing a running play, separating quickly from a block and dropping the ball carrier. The second clip features him back pedaling, riding a receiver into the end zone and breaking off coverage to stop a running play. On Play 3, he shifts with the offensive motion before the snap and tackles a pass catcher shortly after a reception. Hunt is a good athlete with speed and agility trending up as a recruit. Keep an eye on him in 2026.

Hunt kicked off his high school career operating on the Waverly-Shell Rock freshman team. He followed that up by honing his skills working with the town’s 7-on-7 squad. I watched Hunt in action during the Back 2 Ballin tournament this spring at the UNI-Dome. He flashed some nice upside during that event. Hunt also put together a ninth-grade highlight video and posted it on his Hudl page. The first clip has him outrunning the opposition for a touchdown from about 40 yards out. Most of the footage shows him carving up defenses rushing and receiving, and his future could be on that side of the ball. But it’s a set of skills that also plays well in the secondary. He has plenty of time to figure out where he best fits, but the talent will work wherever.
