Sam Erman | Prep Redzone Scout
Wickens is well on his way to having an outstanding career and putting himself near the top of LBs in the state. He’s a highly productive and physical linebacker who makes play after play. He finished year 2 with 128 tackles, 5 hurries, 3 sacks, and was in on 3 different fumbles.

Wickens flashed some as a Freshman and got a little bit of work, but I’d be lying if I said I anticipated this level of play in year 2. He’s turned into a tackling machine and is 1 step ahead of the offense. With a great feel for timing and getting off blocks, it’s clear Wickens belongs. From 12 tackles as a freshman to 102 as a sophomore is about as good of a jump as you can make.

Wickens is in the middle of his breakout season and putting himself in a great spot for the future. The sophomore linebacker got some work last year as a freshman, but now is not only starting for Edgewood but is 2nd in the class with total tackles through 4 weeks. He’s a good athlete with a nose for the ball. He tracks it well and wraps up without an issue. So far on the year he’s put up 60 total tackles, 31 solos, and half of a sack. He’s confident, looks good on the field, and should be a stud for years.
