I’m happy to finally get a quality in-person look at Dylan. First off, he passes the eye test. Amazing frame, and good muscle for his age. There’s plenty of room to get stronger, and I hope he continues to hit the weight room in order to make the most of his amazing frame.

As for skill, he showed exactly what he showed on tape. Every once in a while, Dylan’s explosiveness would pop. He had a few elite getoffs, blowing by some solid interior O-Linemen. Though, as I said, he only did this every once in a while. Dylan’s getoff is pretty inconsistent.

In short, Dylan is an extremely high-upside DT. Continuing to upgrade strength and explosiveness is key to reaching his potential. You can already see the flashes!

Biggest Strengths

I thought Volpe had the best day of the interior linemen. He combo of size and athleticism created problems for the opposing linemen. His ability to dip and shoot the gap got him some wins. He also showed the ability to push the pocket with power. Dylan has a great start with his combo of size and athleticism. Where his game is going to go to a whole new level is with his hand work. If he can work on his hand fighting and getting more violent hands, he’s going to unlock a whole new level of problems he can present to opposing blockers by stringing moves together.

Dylan’s power is impressive. Several highlights showcase Dylan bull rushing linemen with so much force that he pancakes them. Additionally, Dylan has good bend and has amazing speed to power. He’s already an uber-efficient Varisty player as a sophomore, and I’m honestly struggling to find areas to critique. Very rarely do I see DTs with his kind of bend, speed, and power. I absolutely think Dylan’s college upside is at DT, and his tape indicates an easy Power 4 ceiling. The sky’s the limit.
