At a verified 6’3”, 210 lbs with a 4.28 GPA, Shirley put up 1,748 passing yards and 17 TDs on 65% completion as a junior after transferring, earning 1st-Team Del Rey League and All-City Section honors. He has clean mechanics, quick release, easy velocity on deep throws, and natural pocket presence—exactly the kind of processor who thrives in spread or pro-style schemes. Salesian quarterback Donovan Shirley announced his commitment to Sacramento State on Saturday.

Shirley threw for 1706 yards with 17 touchdowns for Fairfax last season and has since transferred to Salesian.

He was a top quarterback in the Accuracy Challenge at the Elite 11 Regional in March and also had offers from Arkansas and Bowling Green among others. Shirley is the third quarterback in Sacramento State’s 2026 recruiting class.

He had a strong showing at the Elite 11 Regional in LA in March and was a top finisher in the accuracy challenge. His release is smooth and he can drive the ball up the field with a flick of the wrist. Shirley was accurate on throws outside the numbers at the Elite 11 camp.
