Rise: #62 to #33

We recently talked about Diesel during our Player of the Year Watch List, and now he is back after a big leap in our rankings update. The 6’3″ 190 lbs safety now holds the #1 DB spot and will also be manning the QB1 spot for the Storm. The reason behind the rise is the tools that he is quickly developing. Size and length to handle the physicality and coverage demands of the position. The tape shows the strong instincts as a sophomore. This summer we saw examples of his ability to play 1 on 1 coverage. Coming into this season I am most confident in his ability among 2028s to be able to deliver on the three key pieces of the safety position. Run defense, over the top coverage, and the ability to play 1 on 1 when needed.

This is going to be an interesting athlete to follow this season. Diesel is going to be a difference maker at safety. He has the frame, the range, and the football IQ to be involved on a snap to snap basis. What is going to be different and very intriguing is that Diesel is going to be the starting QB for the Storm. I’m fired up to see how he performs as a passer, and how his athleticism can change the game. Don’t miss out on watching Diesel and Kewaunee this fall.

Reppin’ the great state of Wisconsin, Kewaunee’s Diesel Bosdeck was an easy First Team All-Eye Test selection out of the talented DB group that assembled at North Dakota’s first Flagship Camp of the summer. He also had the game to match, showing a ton of overall range, advantageous and disruptive length in pass coverage, and quick for his size. The speed and burst, not to mention great frame, are some high-quality tools to potentially play safety in college, and the Wisconsin native was overall comfortable and effective in man coverage to sweeten the pot. Bosdeck produced a couple eye-catching PBUs throughout the 1v1 portion of the camp, as well as an electric contested catch, 50/50 ball INT that had the UND DBs in attendance absolutely hyped. One of the plays of the day, no doubt.

The 6’3″ 180 lbs sophomore for Kewaunee put up numbers in nearly every statistical category for the Storm varsity. 5/8 with 53 yards and a TD passing, 5 carries for 107 yards and a TD rushing, 30 receptions for 494 yards and 6 TDs receiving, along with 38 tackles, 5 TFLs, 4 sacks, 1 FF, and 3 INTs. The 2028 seemed to be involved in everything for a 9-2 team.

As good as the Storm was on the football field they were even better on the hardwood this season. Kewaunee currently has a perfect 24-0 record. Diesel is 2nd on the team with 14.5 PPG, 3rd on the team with 2.2 steals per game, 4th with 2.6 assists per game, and 5th on the team with 3.7 rebounds per game.

Versatility stemming from his excellent blend of size physicality, and raw athleticism make Diesel an intriguing future recruit. Adding a dominant role for one of the best basketball teams in the state only further verifies his natural gifts. This kid is only going to continue to rise up our boards.

Diesel was one of our top additions to the skill positions, and the production supports that. He dominated on Friday nights and did it while contributing everywhere. He hauled in 30 receptions for 494 yards and 6 TDs, ran the ball 5 times for 107 yards and a TD, made 38 tackles, 5 TFLs, 4 sacks, 1 FF, and 3 INTs. The kid even added in 53 yards and a passing TD. The 6’3″ 180 lbs athlete offers outstanding versatility to say the least. As a safety, Diesel checks the three level box. Someone who can play deep and read and react. Someone who can cover a slot on his own. Someone who can play against the run, or in Diesel’s case, someone who can come right up on the edge and effectively get after the passer. Then on offense he gives you a smooth, long striding WR who can get vertical and use that big wingspan to provide a reliable and large catch radius. Big things ahead for Diesel as he continues to improve and add to that already strong production.
