About D’Elliott
Expert Analysis
Jordan Reyes | Prep Redzone Scout
Jones possesses a lot of key traits colleges look for in a MLB. 6’3” 215 lbs. he’s got a great frame with plus athleticism. He plays downhill as an aggressive run stopper, always looking to attack the LOS. Violent tackler at the POA, accelerating through contact with good leverage to consistently win the collision battle. Does a good job filling between the tackles but not limited to the box showing he can play laterally taking good angles in pursuit to limit gains to the perimeter. He’s a physical, instinctive LB whose combination of power and range gives him a strong foundation at the second level. In 4 games this season, he’s totaled 47 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, a sack, and 3 forced fumbles.

Jones is a long and rangy player with the frame and build to continue adding weight and has good length and growth potential at the next level. He is a very smooth mover for his size, comes downhill quickly and can shock/shed off blocks in a hurry and covers a ton of ground in the open field. Jones also shows he packs a punch at the POA, can provide some pass rush abilities off the edge and has quick hands/hips around the corner with backside pursuit and closing speed. Look for him to fit nicely in as a designated pass rush type player in college and should only continue to grow and develop as a twitched up pass rusher.
