Expert Analysis
Rob Howe | Prep Redzone Scout
Walter was last evaluated by Prep Redzone way back in the early summer. Since then, he enjoyed a sophomore season in which he delivered key contributions for a Class 4A state quarterfinalist. Walter carried the ball three times and caught six passes. FIve of his seven tackles were solo stops. He did the most damage on special teams, where he averaged 20.1 yards on seven kick returns. Walter’s exploits are on display when watching his 10th-grade highlight video. He flashes potential as versatile weapon with the ball in his hands on offense, traits that also shine through in the return game. Walter shows a lot of potential as a defensive back, too. He runs well with receivers, changing directions easily and closing quickly.

Walter’s frame is filling out, so he looks a bit like a wide receiver playing running back during his freshman highlight video. The skill set is there for him to line up in the backfield, though. Walter hits the hole hard and gets north-south quickly. The second clip on his film shows him lining up in the slot and beating the defense on a deep route, so his versatility is an asset. Walter is a home-run threat whenever he has the ball in his hands. He’s also athletic with a broad base of skills that keep open the door for him to develop at another position with three years of high school remaining. Walter also can help on special teams and is one to watch in 2025.
