Hogue was on both sides of the ball on Friday and gave his defense everything he had on Friday, and they gave Carroll a fight, but didn’t quite have enough. Hogue was sideline to sideline and led the team with tackles. He’s got fantastic range and is a great athlete who can run in coverage. He finished the night with 12 tackles, forced a pair of fumbles, recovered one, and deflected a pass.

Hogue was fantastic on Friday in a game that came down to the very end. The Luers and Northrop game was arguably the most underrated game in the state. It was competitive, and guys were laying big hits, and every down mattered. Hogue led the Luers defense with 13 tackles, 2 TFLs, and an interception.

Dee Hogue is a great safety prospect who can undercut routes and make plays on the ball. The 6-foot-0, 170-pound prospect can cover and carry routes, stays physical in coverage without getting flagged, and is very good at whipping his head around and playing the ball. He recorded nine interceptions last season, leading all prospects on this list.

On an evening when Luers needed some consistency, Hogue came through. They were in a battle with Mississinewa and Hogue’s ability to move the chains on the ground was huge. He made guys miss, broke tackles, and churned out yards in between the tackles. His 11 yards per carry, 119 yards, and 1 TD on the game all led the game as Luers snuck by 34-28.

Stepping up early in the year so far for Luers is Hogue, who is doing it on both sides of the ball this year. He’s a good athlete and has always been productive when on the field, but now that he’s an upperclassman some of the responsibilities have been shifted his way, and through 2 weeks, he’s doing his part. On the season, he’s got 16 tackles and a blocked field goal. Once you add in his 3 interceptions from Friday against Leo, you understand why he’s here. Hogue helped shut down and suffocate a Leo offense which always seems to have answers, but not Friday against Hogue.

The versatile DB out of Fort Wayne has all the makings of a guy who takes off and flourishes at the next level. He’s an elite raw athlete who can cover just about every blade of grass on the field. He’s lean and lengthy, yet can pack a punch behind his tackles. He takes good angles to the ball and is able to come to balance and make the tackle in the open field. I expect big things from Hogue moving forward and would assume the offers will follow.
