Sherman is an active, high-energy defender who brings range and speed to the backend of the Dekaney defense. Lining up primarily at free safety, he covers ground well and shows the ability to read plays as they develop. Sherman is a sure tackler who can come down into the box, blitz effectively, and make plays in run support. His willingness to be physical combined with his athleticism makes him a reliable presence in multiple defensive roles.

Sherman is a versatile free safety who flashes great play in space and the quickness and instincts needed to play sideline to sideline. He’s a ball magnet over the middle of the field and also excels at getting downhill and breaking down to disrupt run plays. Cordey also demonstrates twitchiness and overall speed to make plays all over the field. The polish and instinctiveness Sherman showed as a freshman were extremely impressive. These traits allowed the star DB to compile 24 tackles, 3 INTs, and 11 pass breakups in 2024. Sherman should be in store for another productive season for the Wildcats this season, as he builds upon an early offer list that includes schools such as Baylor, Mississippi State, and SMU.

Cordey Sherman is a dynamic 5’9 140 pound athlete (WR,CB) out of Texas. His elusive game play is a bi-product of God given fast twitch muscles and a confidence that oozes out of his uniform. Like running back and teammate Javien Bedford, Mr. Sherman possesses instincts that separates himself on both sides of the ball. At first glance you can see elite speed running with the ball or running to the ball. Either way, hang your cleats up if he gets behind you.
