Offensive Evaluation: A twitchy slot receiver who blends speed and quickness. At the snap, he gets a smooth release off the line, enabling separation. Rust is a refined route runner who seeks out soft spots in zone coverage.
Defensive Evaluation: Gives a physical jam at the line and shows the speed to stay with the deep ball. In zone coverage, he can read and react to reach his landmarks. Extremely fluid hips allow him to change direction. To maximize his play as a corner, he needs to show more toughness when coming up in run support.
Returner Evaluation: He sees the lanes develop as he explodes through the hole when trusting his blockers. He displays elite top speed in the open field.

One of the most impressive middle schoolers at the entire NEXTGEN Regional stop in Orlando was eighth-grade WR Christian Rust. Rhode Island native now playing in the heavyweight Ocoee youth ranks. Rust was more than comfortable against upperclassmen and varsity DBs and was strong enough to work through press coverage and stay on his marks and crafty in his releases at the LOS. He was also twitchy at the top of the route and had soft hands and had a lot of DBs spinning their heads around and grasping at air on Sunday.
