Coming off a strong sophomore campaign being voted Cal-Hi Sports Sophomore All State, Higgs continues to improve. 5’11” 185 lbs. he’s an attacking LB that is efficient with his movement to fill gaps and limit wasted steps on his way to the ball carrier. Quick to read and react he triggers downhill with speed to make plays at or behind the LOS in the run game. He’s a heavy hitter at the contact point driving through contact with good pad level, balance, and forward momentum. Runs well to play sideline to sideline and shows he can break down with active feet to secure a tackle in the open field. Navigates traffic cleanly to avoid being blocked without opening up cut back lanes. Multi-dimensional skillset also being an effective ball carrier taking 71 carries for 436 yards and 6 touchdowns so far this season.

Higgs is the next great linebacker to come out of Apple Valley and has plenty of playing experience heading into his sophomore year. Getting plenty of playing time as a freshman last Fall, he made an instant impact and shows he is a downhill thumper, does a good job at knifing into the backfield and displays closing speed and a high IQ when sniffing out plays. Checking into our rankings just outside the top 100, he is another ’28 prospect that has been quietly moving under the radar and should breakout this Fall.
