Davis is someone I’ve seen at camps each of the past few summers, and he’s put it all together this year for Martinsville. He’s poised, doesn’t get rattled, and can see the entire field. He’s got a good arm that can make all the throws. He’s able to put touch on it down the field and put it over the defender’s shoulder. He typically doesn’t put the ball in harm’s way, and Friday was no different. He knows his offense, where the ball needs to go, and gets it there on time. He went 16 of 24 for 307 yards and threw 3 TDs on the night as they got the win over Charlestown.

Davis was fantastic on Friday. He’s got a tall frame that allows him to see the entire field, and he was dealing. I’ve seen him work in person a few times and always liked what I saw, but he hadn’t been the starter yet. This year is year 1, and he’s had his moments. Friday, he threw for 395 yards and 5 TDs as they tormented Perry Meridian.

Davis’s length is rare, and it helps him more than he may realize. Not only does he see the entire field, but his over-the-top release makes it almost impossible to get balls batted down. It helps him get the right trajectory over the top of the linebackers and right in front of the safety help. There are times he’ll pat the ball, but when he trusts himself and what he sees, he’s rarely wrong and makes the throw 9/10 times. I like Davis and always have. He’s quiet when he’s out there and isn’t ever trying to do too much.

Davis had a really solid day and looked good from the jump. He has a lengthy frame that chews up yards in a hurry. While he’s not the greatest athlete, he’s more than capable and it shows on the field. He can roll out, hit guys in stride, and extend plays. He throws a nice ball and made some receivers look better than they were. I left impressed with Davis and how he carries himself on the field.
