Cartez has been doing some amazing things on the field this year for Mariner HS, rushing for over 100 yards many times. He’s been featured in this series of articles already and deserves another mention for his week 6 game against Jackson HS. He ran the ball 19 times for 275 yards and 4 touchdowns on the night. His talents were on full display as he showcased his speed on the field every time he touched the ball. He gets through the hole extremely fast, evading tacklers at every level quite often. Williams will be continue to lead the team in the backfield as he gets touches throughout the end of the year.

Cartez has had an amazing start to his senior campaign. He’ll be the first player who I have featured twice in this series of articles. Week 3 against Meadowdale, Williams continued his dominant start. He ran the ball 18 times for 140 yards and a touchdown, all without playing the 4th quarter (due to team lead). Cartez hits the holes hard, being able to get to the next levels quickly. He doesn’t mind contact on the field in fact, it seems like he embraces it. He’s been putting up big numbers weekly and I don’t think that will change.

Here’s a running back who needs more attention around the state and country. Cartez had a HUGE week 1 rushing for 191 yards on 16 attempts and 2 touchdowns, and he did that all in only the first half of the game. He showed off his speed many times, breaking through the defensive front 7 by zooming right by. He’s the type of running back who wants contact and he absorbs it well, bouncing off and going for more yards. He can bounce outside or take it right up the middle, whichever the defense gives him. He showed off his catching abilities out of the backfield a little bit as well. Williams will continue to grow off this big performance.
