About Cappie
Expert Analysis
Cooper Morreale | Prep Redzone Scout
Cappie Reed is a talented LB out of UMS-Wright who has been a huge piece of their defense over the last two seasons.
Reed is a tackling machine who helps his defense come up with stops nearly every snap. He’s terrific against the run and consistently flies downhill to fill in rushing lanes and fight off blockers to take down the ball carrier. Reed is terrific at tackling- he gets low, wraps up, and can come up with stops behind or right by the line of scrimmage for little to no gain.
Reed is just as productive against the pass- he’s a really effective blitzer who consistently gains great pressure and racks up sacks on the quarterback.
Reed had one of his best seasons yet last fall, ending his junior year with 136 total tackles (10 for loss), 2 sacks, one safety, and one fumble recovery. With production like that, teams at the next level are starting to take notice- Reed picked up his first offer from Hinds Community College a few weeks back!
Be sure to watch Reed’s junior season tape below- he was dominant last year and has a huge year ahead of him this fall, stay tuned!

Caplyn Reed Caplyn Reed AL has been a really talented linebacker for UMS-Wright’s defense the last few seasons- he’s coming off a terrific sophomore season where we saw him make play after play for his team. Reed is an incredibly reliable middle linebacker- he plays really well in coverage, is a good pass rusher, and has excellent tackling technique that lets him wrap anyone up. Reed has a lot of athleticism he uses to his advantage- he plays with a ton of speed and physicality and can make his presence felt every time he takes the field. It’s seriously impressive watching Reed use his speed to make sideline-to-sideline plays, he has some terrific pursuit and doesn’t give up on plays regardless of how far away he is from the action. Reed had a huge breakout season last fall that featured him totaling 135 tackles (86 solo, 8 for loss) 4.5 sacks, one interception and one forced/recovered fumble. Be sure to watch Reed this fall, he was fantastic last year and is set up for a big junior season in UMS Wright’s defense!
