Expert Analysis
Will Helms | Prep Redzone Scout
One of the state’s most prolific tacklers, Cartlidge stuffed the stat sheet as a senior, racking up 131 tackles, including 32 for loss, and 11 sacks. He also contributed as a short-yardage running back, scoring 10 touchdowns on the year. He anchored a defense that finished an 8-1 regular season with three straight shutouts and allowed just 15 points a game.

Few players at any position have had the start to the year that Cartlidge has. Always a tackling machine, he’s getting into the backfield quicker than ever, matching last year’s tackle for loss total of 26 in just six games. He’s also playing more offense as a senior, proving himself to be a talented running back as well. Cartlidge recently committed to North Carolina Central, and we think the Eagles got a future star.

Cartlidge mans the middle of the Walkertwon defense, but his impact is sideline-to-sideline. He can get anywhere on the field in a hurry, making plays in the backfield, on either sideline, and down the field from behind, if need be. He has great speed and size and he’s grown a good bit since we first ranked him.

Camereon is an incredibly productive player for a Walkertown team that is on the rise, coming off a breakout season last year. Camereon produced 148 total tackles, 27 tackles for loss, and 7 sacks last season, and there’s no reason why he can’t duplicate or even surpass that production this season. Per his Twitter/X profile, Camereon has grown to 6’2 from a height standpoint, and he’s been active on the camp circuit this offseason, showing good speed and agility in space. I think as long as Camereon remains patient, college football programs will come his way as the season goes along.

Camereon was named his conference’s defensive player of the year, so that encouraged us to take a deeper look into him. The production is very impressive – 144 total tackles with 25 tackles for loss and 6 sacks on the season. When you take a look at the highlights, Camereon does a great job of reading and diagnosing plays quickly and gets to the football with excellent quickness. Camereon tackles well in space, and I don’t say this often, but he can be a sideline-to-sideline inside linebacker. It doesn’t look like he has a lot of recruiting attention, but he may start to see some if he has a strong offseason and camp season.
