Burlington will be replacing a 1,000-yard rusher and plenty of production from the 2025 roster. That will put more pressure on Zaugg to shine as a senior. He laid the foundation for it with a sound campaign last fall. Zaugg threw for 10 touchdowns and added six more scores on the ground. He had 751 yards passing and rushed for 318 more. The output led to all-district honors. His 11th-grade highlight video puts on display the deep box of tools as a dual-threat signal caller. Arm strength to stretch the field and fit the ball into tight windows is there. The mobile Zaugg feels pressure and moves the pocket. Ball placement is on point whether firing from the pocket or on the move. Zaugg is slick with play-action and is poised under center or out of the shotgun. The Hounds are counting on a big year, and the senior is fully capable of delivering.

This is an updated evaluation of Zaugg, who we highlighted back in August before his junior campaign at Burlington. We’re happy to report that it was a successful season. He tossed 10 touchdowns and ran for six more. Zaugg threw for 751 yards and rushed for 318 more. All that added up to all-district honors. His 11th-grade highlight video does a nice job featuring his strengths as a football player. The first clip shows off his ability to push the ball downfield and put it on the money. Zaugg does well throwing on the move and in selling play-action fakes. He looks comfortable operating out of the shotgun or under center. Zaugg can fit the ball into tight windows with a strong arm.

While splitting quarterbacking duties as a sophomore in 2024, Zaugg tossed four touchdown passes and ran for two more. He displays touch and arm strength in the first clip on his 10th-grade highlight video, which goes for a 35-yard touchdown toss. Getting the ball downfield with accuracy continues throughout the film. Zaugg looks comfortable rolling out in either direction, getting through his progressions and delivering a nice ball. He definitely can squeeze the ball through tight windows. Zaugg looks like a guy who could break out this season.
