A 2027 EDGE on the rise in Lamar County, Johnson is a strong, playmaking EDGE defender with a really impressive motor. He can slip through double-teams, fight off blocks, and knows how to make plays in the backfield. He’s been one of the better defenders in the area and one of the more productive EDGE defenders across the region through the regular season. In total, Johnson has made 61 tackles, 14.5 TFLs, seven sacks, and two fumble recoveries. He’s showed a lot of promise and productivity this year and has put up really strong numbers on a weekly basis. He’ll be an easy addition to the upcoming 2027 Prep Redzone rankings this winter.

He shows strong, violent hands, impressive burst, and plays hard every snap. He can chase down the ball-carrier and put consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks all season long. Look for this 6-foot-0 225-pounder to see his recruitment pick up at some point down the road. He’s currently ranked as the No. 8 EDGE defender and the No. 244 overall prospect in the state according to the latest Prep Redzone rankings.

A small-town EDGE defender who won’t by flying under the radar for very long, Johnson is a small-town defender who proved to be one of the better pass-rushers in that area of the state last fall. The 6-foot-0 225-pounder is explosive off the snap and does a great job of using his quick, violent hands to shed blocks and chase down the quarterback. He’s coming off an outstanding sophomore season where he made 61 tackles, 16 TFLs and 12.5 sacks. He’ll be an easy addition to the next Prep Redzone rankings and has a chance to light up the stat sheet once again this fall as a junior.
