Expert Analysis
Connor Jackson | Prep Redzone Scout
Matthews, similar to Rowe, is on the smaller side for LB prospect, but I absolutely love his athleticism and pursuit skills in the second level. If he were 6’2, I’d be confident in saying he is a clear P4 LB prospect. Regardless of height, he is making plays all over the field, including wreaking havoc as a pass rusher. His pursuit skills and athleticism give him early special teams value, so I don’t think it would be long before he found the field in college.

A hard-hitting Cobb County linebacker still flying under the radar, Matthews is a smart, physical defender who can help defend the pass while bringing an intimidating presence against the run. He plays hard, he’s aggressive, and is coming off an outstanding junior season where he made 99 tackles, eight TFLs and three forced fumbles. He’s one of the top returning linebackers in the area and is now ranked by Prep Redzone as the No. 434 overall prospect in the state for the 2026 class.

A playmaking linebacker in Cobb County fresh off a very productive junior season, Matthews is a hard-hitting linebacker who plays with a strong, physical presence. He hits hard behind his pads and made a total of 99 tackles, three forced fumbles, and an INT last year for Campbell. He runs well for his size at 5-foot-11 210-pounds and will help lead McEachern next fall as a senior. He’s one of the top returning defenders in the area and recently earned a new offer from Samford. His stock is on the rise and more offers are likely to follow.
