Shaffer has good athletic ability due to good acceleration, speed, jumping, and change of direction. As a RB, he has good vision paired with very good inside running. Follows his offensive lineman in short yardage situations to convert first downs. Picks, slides, and accelerates into the open hole. Shaffer does a great job at getting yards after contact. Due to his frame and strength, defenders slide off him or he’ll bulldoze his way through. As a linebacker, he has good range and reactionary speed. Strong tackler as well. Great start to the season so far.

Shaffer turned heads despite his team coming up short in Week 0, delivering a strong individual performance against the odds. He rushed for 140 yards on 14 carries and scored twice, showing the ability to consistently produce with the football. Shaffer was effective at making defenders miss and displayed the physicality needed to pick up tough yards when the defense closed in. His 41 yard run also highlighted his explosiveness and ability to create chunk plays in the open field. The performance gives Shaffer plenty to build on as he looks ahead to the next matchup. With continued production and more opportunities to make plays, he could become an increasingly important name to monitor as the season progresses.
