Expert Analysis
Paul Gregorian | Prep Redzone Scout
Stewart checks into our rankings as the top defensive back prospect in the class and deservingly so. He is elite against the run, comes up and sets the edge while not afraid to take on lead blockers and bigger backs and shows he can play press man with fluid hips in transition and natural ball skills/deep speed to stay with vertical concepts. He is a very high IQ player that understands zone coverage and baiting poor throws to the outside or into the flats before triggering and is always around the ball seeking out contact and making plays at or behind the line on the perimeter. He should draw plenty of D2/FCS attention through his final year and is one of the top players returning across Idaho this Fall.

Stewart is one of the more physical players on the defensive side of the ball across the state, and is coming off a tremendous second season campaign for Mountain View. He is a excellent run stopper on the outside, shows he can trigger quickly, get off blocks and brings a nice pop at the POA. In coverage, he is fluid in transition, shows natural ball skills/high-point abilities and and plays physical downfield while doing a nice job working the sideline and playing with disciplines eyes. Heading into the Fall, he should really breakout and start to get on college radars soon after.

Stewart checks into our rankings as the top defensive back prospect across the state in the 2027 class, and just inside the top ten overall. He is a very fluid athlete on the back end with good top end speed, recovery length and natural ball skills at the point of attack. He has fluid hips in coverage while breaking quickly the ball carriers and excels in man coverage while very smart in zone, baiting quarterbacks into poor decisions. Stewart shows good explosion and long speed and has the willingness to come up and make tackles in space/take on bigger ball carriers. Overall, he is a natural defensive back that should fit in nicely at the safety position in college and is a FCS prospect.
