Expert Analysis
Alin Edouard | Prep Redzone Scout
Ashton stands out on film as a nickel defender who plays fast, aggressive, and always seems to be around the football. He’s at his best when lined up in the slot, where his quick first step allows him to mirror receivers and stay attached through their routes. What really shows up is how disruptive he is; times his breaks well, jumps routes when the opportunity is there, and doesn’t hesitate to step up and deliver a hit in space.
Against the run, he plays bigger than his size, triggering downhill quickly and taking on blocks with confidence to help close lanes. He’s also comfortable working in different alignments, whether it’s covering man to man, rotating into zone, or coming on pressure packages. Ashton’s film shows a defender who thrives in chaos, reacts quickly, and consistently finds ways to impact plays all over the field.
