A breakout running back to know in Peach County, Barton is a do-it-all running back who rushed for an eye-opening 1,523 yards and an incredible 21 touchdowns. A versatile back who can also help in the passing game, the speedy, shifty Middle Georgia back also hauled in 14 passes for 246 yards and four touchdowns. He’s a big-play machine who should definitely see some D1 offers come his way this winter. He’s one of the top 2026 backs in the area and is now one of the best in the state. Not only was he added to the latest rankings, but he’s now ranked as the No. 9 running back prospect in the state for his class.
Barton had an unreal performance against Cherokee Bluff, as he finished the contest with 253 yards on 12 carries. This is an insane amount of yards on 12 carries, as his average would be over 21 yards. This is something that could change the game entirely. I believe if Barton does this again then Peach County will be on the map as one of the teams to beat. Peach County at their best is a state title type of team, but the same can be said for Jenkins.
An electric Middle Georgia running back from For Valley, Barton is a shifty back with impressive balance, quick feet, and breakaway speed. He’s a slipper back who can slip through defenders and take off down the field when given space to run. He was tough to stop all season long as he averaged 7.5 yards per carry and rushed for at least 115 yards in each of his last five games. He went over the 100-yard mark six times and ran for at least two touchdowns in seven games. He was one of the top backs in the area this fall and will be one of the fastest backs in the region next year as a senior. In total, Barton ran for 1,090 yards and 18 touchdowns during the regular season and should see a bump in the next 2027 Prep Redzone rankings.
A breakout running back emerging in Middle Georgia, Barton is an explosive runner who can score from anywhere on the field. He may be on the smaller side, but he runs hard and can be tough to get hands on in the open field. He’s one of the fastest and most explosive backs in the the region and is having a a really strong junior season. The Peach County standout has run for 725 yards and 12 touchdowns. He’s rushed for over 400 yards and five touchdowns over his last two games. He’s also rushed for at least 125 yards in three of his last four games. He’s averaging an eye-opening 8.6 yards per carry and will push for All-Region honors at the end of the season.
