About A’Shaad
Expert Analysis
Jonathan Davalos | Prep Redzone Scout
A’Shaad made a major statement at the Next Combine in April, earning MVP honors after dominating every phase of the event. He shined in every individual drill, showcasing advanced footwork, body control, and a natural feel for the game. Among running backs, he posted one of the fastest 40-yard dash and shuttle times, proving that his speed matches his explosive play style.
What makes A’Shaad special isn’t just his athleticism, it’s how he applies it on the field. He’s twitchy and unpredictable, with the ability to get in and out of cuts so sharply that defenders are often left grasping at air. He can turn a broken play into a touchdown, flashing game breaking ability every time he touches the ball. As he heads into high school at Eastern, all signs point to him being a day one impact player. If there’s one name on this list to watch for varsity contributions as a freshman, it’s A’Shaad.

Coming into the PRZ Next Middle School Combine, I don’t think many people would have predicted that Carter would have walked away with the Running Back MVP, but he certainly did. One of only a handful of South Jersey kids to come through the combine, Carter passed the eye test immediately with a muscular frame and legs built to run for days. “Whoever No. 45 has serious speed” was something I heard throughout the afternoon, about Carter.

- One of the few true South Jersey prospects making the trip to Jackson for the combine, look for Carter should to open the eyes of a lot of people. There’s an unspoken North Jersey bias when looking at the state’s top players, but Carter has the ability to change that.

Mr. Carter is an explosive rock runner with crazy agility. His energy is infectious and he plays 100 mph. He eats up yardage quick and makes defenders look like they’re playing in slow motion. Ashaad is confident and wants the ball and all the smoke that comes with it. I like his size already and his ability to flip the field on necessary downs to keep the chains constantly moving. Fast twitch movements, pressure steps, jump cuts, climbing the ladder inside and out are all ways he will put you on his highlight reels.
