Alonzo Ward
About Alonzo
Expert Analysis
Paul Gregorian | Prep Redzone Scout
Ward took home wide receiver MVP Honors and had a dominant showing in the afternoon session showing real downfield speed, strong hands and tracks well over the top and when making off-platform catches and showed he can come down with 50/50 balls. He can create good seperation at the top of his routes and is a smooth runner with short area twitch and a high IQ against zone coverage. Only heading into his Junior season for Edison, he should gather plenty more FBS offers and currently holds offers from Washington State, Sac State and San Diego State.

Ward is one of the top players in the state at his position and checks into our rankings as a top 10 wide receiver and holds an offer from Sacramento State as a sophomore and should see plenty of others come in this off-season. He is explosive on both sides of the ball and has natural ball skills, deep speed and is fluid in transition with elite cover abilities and is a big playmaker with the ball in his hands. He erupted in week 5 of the season, going for 140 yards receiving and 2 scores, while adding duties on defense as well. Look for Ward to continue his breakout season and become a household name across the region after the season.

High level athlete and talented playmaker with the ball in his hands as a receiver and in the return game. Possesses a dynamic skillset that blends his top end speed, twitch, and fluidity. Plus field vision and spatial awareness he’s extremely elusive in the open field. He makes explosive lateral cuts in the short area and accelerates out to run away from defenders. Can attack a defense at all three levels with his ability to stretch the field vertically, find the soft spot in coverage at the intermediate level, or take short screens for long gains. Quick release move off the LOS against press coverage and will mix in head/shoulder movement at the break point to create separation. PRZ’s sixth ranked WR in the 2028 class. Tons of upside as he progresses that will land him on recruiting boards before long.
