East Grand Rapids Week 3 Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>EGR walked away from their matchup with Lowell still unbeaten, and looking like a legitimate contender in D3. The Pioneers were dominant, coming away with a 42-14 victory over the Red Arrows, and there were some big standout players on both sides of the ball for EGR. The Pioneer offense never got stagnant, and he showed off big play ability time and time again. The offensive line played really well which gave him ample time to throw more often than not, but even when Lowell did get some pressure, he felt it, kept his eyes downfield and was able to make completions under duress. Running wise, he was elusive and ran really hard. A true deep threat for EGR, he ran every route out, never gave up on the play, and was able to get behind the DBs all game long. He could be an X-Factor for East with some other good receivers alongside him, it will be difficult for teams to choose who to take away. He was a thumper all night long. He was reading the offense, and flying to the spot. Multiple times throughout the game he was able to beat the ball carrier to the point of attack. I don't think he was out of position much, if at all. He displayed a clear football IQ and the athletic ability to act upon what he was seeing. He is a leader on the EGR defense that is only giving up about 11 PPG. He was dominant up front. Lowell really never had an answer, as he was moving his blocker, sometimes 2, on every play. He fired off fast and low, drove his feet and was able to really disrupt any sort of flow Lowell was trying to get. Even on one of the 2 Red Arrow touchdowns, he was in the backfield and made the QB heave it right before the half. This kid is special, and is getting some D2 offers. The most impressive part of his game I was able to observe was his ability to catch the ball and turn up the field quickly to get a ton of YAC. He racked up a ton of yards just getting vertical after the catch. He has a clear ability to change direction abruptly, and showed off some breakaway speed. As I have mentioned with others, he could be another one in for a huge year due to the plethora of talent at the skill positions. They used him in a variety of ways, as he was stretching the defense vertically, but also was able to get the edge on sweeps and take it for a big gain. He runs insanely hard with the ball in his hand, and he would rumble through the defense en route to some huge chunk yardage.
