I'll take five student-athletes from the previous week that I believe had the most impactful games for their respective schools the week prior. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":4} --> <h4 class="wp-block-heading">Jeremiah WIlson | JR | RB | Lanier </h4> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wilson had a memorable night last Friday night. He had 26 carries for 275 yards and six touchdowns. He was all over the field in the Bulldog's win over the Newton Tigers. Will last Friday night set Wilson up for a breakout season in 2023? Time will tell, but if he puts together a few more games like the one against Newton, he will be a known commodity by every college coach by the end of his junior season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":4} --> <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='344053' first='Chris' last='Davis'] | SR | RB | Picayune </h4> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Davis entered his Senior season last Friday night with big expectations. He is a current Stanford Cardinal commit with a bright future in front of him. People have wondered if he could live up to the hype; if Friday night was any indication, the simple answer is ABSOLUTELY! All Davis did on Friday night was rush the ball 44 times for 227 yards, scoring three touchdowns in the Maroon Tide win over Brandon. Davis ran the ball with authority and had a quickness about him that I had not seen in him before. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":4} --> <h4 class="wp-block-heading">Eli Causey | SO | Petal</h4> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Causey took control of the Petal offense last Friday night. There's no doubt who the leader is on this team in 2023. He was 10-19 for 212 yards and two touchdowns Friday night against a stingy Hattiesburg defense. He has a quick release and gets the ball to his receivers with reasonable accuracy. If Causey can continue to produce and lead the way he did on Friday night against Hattiesburg, he has the potential to be one of the top quarterbacks in the state in his class. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":4} --> <h4 class="wp-block-heading">WIll Bizot | SO | MRA</h4> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Oak Forest had a hard time keeping up with Bizot on Friday night. Bizot, a sophomore wide receiver for MRA, had five catches for 94 yards and was responsible for two touchdowns Friday night. Bizot is making a name for himself in a strong receiving group for MRA. He is becoming one of White's favorite targets by being one of his more reliable targets. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":4} --> <h4 class="wp-block-heading">De'Traun Brown | JR | Newton </h4> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Brown's performance Friday night was something exceptional. He is the only one I mentioned that his team suffered a loss last week. Brown had six receptions for 116 yards and three touchdowns in his team's loss to Lanier 52-32. Brown can create space between himself and the defender while running his routes. He has solid hands and runs clean, precise routes. Look for Brown to turn heads this fall and be on top of college coaches' lists for his Senior year. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
