2022 Rankings: Receiving Corps Standing Out, Again

The Class of 2021 rankings were receiver heavy near the top. The 2022 receiving class has got a great start on matching that star-studded group. Five players in that skill group have notched their share of major and G5 offers already, with more on the way. [player_tooltip player_id="59464" first="Adam" last="Randall"], MYRTLE BEACH The powerful receiver committing to Clemson on Christmas day, virtually closing off a recruiting window that included more offers than any other player in Horry County in the modern era. Randall benefitted from playing alongside J.J. Jones in 2020, but all eyes will be firmly on him next season. [player_tooltip player_id="59467" first="Zack" last="Chalmers"], NEWBERRY Chalmers is a long strider, thanks in part to his 6-foot-4 frame, and can create some separation from defensive backs that way. He’s also a load to bring down once he gets the ball in his hands. His first offer (Virginia) came in May and a whole bunch more have followed since. He will certainly have a large group to pick from before it’s all said and done. [player_tooltip player_id="61070" first="Antonio" last="Williams"], DUTCH FORK Williams was in a lot of ways the next recruiting domino in South Carolina after Randall committed to Clemson. Many of the same schools who had offered the Myrtle Beach receiver then turned their attention to Williams. He’s a 6-foot speedster who runs great routes and plays in a college-ready offense at Dutch Fork. [player_tooltip player_id="59470" first="EJ" last="Evett"], SENECA The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder loves to initiate contact. And while that probably stems from all the time he spends on the other side of the ball for the Bobcats, it’s become an added bonus for his offensive position. Evett stands out despite a heavily restricted junior season thanks to COVID-19 protocols and closures. But he could be a household name after next year. ZAVIER SHORT, CHAPIN The Eagles throw the ball more than their fair share, and to a number of receivers. But Short is definitely Justin Gentry’s go-to receiver. As a junior, he hauled in 50 receptions for 703 yards and nine touchdowns in eight games. Like Williams, his production comes in a heavily contested region and against some of the better defenses in Class 5A.
