Mark McGinnis

Expert Analysis
Mark Johnson | Prep Redzone Scout
The 6’2″ 205 lbs TE is an athlete to watch for teams looking for a TE/H-Back type of athlete. Mark doesn’t have the old school TE size, but he has a solid frame and athleticism that can be utilized on LBs to create a mismatch. He has 4.7 40 speed and shows that he has solid concentration and hand eye coordination to reel in the limited passes he saw. Mark makes a big impact in the run game. We see him get up to the second level and meet LBs head on and create a push in his favor. That power shows up right out of his stance too as he can drive a DE off the ball with a wide base and good hand placement. Mark’s best football is ahead of him. Check him out.

Stats: 2 Receptions, 1 TDrnMark is a TE prospect that intrigues me with his play and use. McGinnis is primarily used as a blocker in the Elkhorn offense. A role that he has fit into very well. Mark is able to hold his own against DEs, and uses his agility to put himself in the best positions to win with leverage. He runs his feet to the whistle and is very sticky on his defender once he locks on. This week we got to see some receiving to go with the blocking. Mark was used to attack the short/intermediate levels, and he made a nice in traffic catch for the score. I look forward to getting him in the rankings this offseason.
