Adairsville vs Trion (Scrimmage): Defensive Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Tigers and the Bulldogs concluded the off-season with a 2Q Varsity scrimmage Friday night. Here are a few of the defensive standouts from each side. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Adairsville Tigers</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='947645' first='Hayden' last='Blalock'] '24 LB</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>5'8 165 but don't let the size fool you, this kid is a football player. 2nd Team All Region last season as a Junior and returns for his senior year after leading the Region winning Tigers in tackles in 2022. Hard nose guy that has a knack for finding the football. A sure tackler that has the strength combined with good technique. Has quickness to get to the outside on the screen passes. Had 8 TT and a PBU in 2Q of play Friday. Had 4 solo tackles on Trion's opening drive. He uses his quickness to get around bigger offensive linemen. Good nose for the football and always seems to be in a position to make the play whether it be a tackle or batting a pass down. Had several tackles, a pass batted down at the line of scrimmage and had sacks on back-to-back plays late in the game. 1st Team All Region last season and look for another productive season from Foster in '23.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Jaydon Hovarth '24 DB</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 5'11 150 DB was all over the field Friday. If you saw our Offensive Standout post, you know this kid rarely leaves the field. An old school football player that enjoys contact. Had 4 TT on Friday and was good in coverage. Had a 61 yard TD reception on the offensive side of the ball. 4.0 GPA student that works hard on and off the field.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>Trion Bulldogs</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Connor Harris '25 DL</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Active big man across the front at 6'1 255. Led the Bulldogs in tackles Friday while trying to corral Adairsville's standout RB. Showed his athleticism by getting off the ground and batting down a pass at the line of scrimmage. A raw recruit that will probably both ways for the Bulldogs this season. We will keep an eye out for his Junior season highlight film later this Fall.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Logan Stokes '25 DE</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>At 6'4 225 this kid passes the eye test right off the bus. Led the Region in sacks last year and if Friday is any indication, he is ready to defend that title. He had 3 solo tackles a big tackle for loss late in the game. Athletic with a great frame, multisport athlete that definitely has the size and athleticism to play at the next level. Plays TE on offense and made a nice over the shoulder grab in the closing seconds to set Trion up for the game winning FG. Good coverage DB at 6'4. He had a couple of solo tackles as well as a pass break up on a deep ball. Playing at a Class A school, Mahan will rarely leave the field this Fall.
