Clay Petry Clay Petry 6'2" | 210 lbs | WR Helix | 2021 State CA of Helix (La Mesa) announced his commitment to the University of Penn.
He transferred to Helix after a very successful junior season at Bishop’s of La Jolla. Petry caught 68 passes for 1,204 yards and 14 touchdowns and emerged as one of the top receivers in San Diego. He and Notre Dame signee Tyler Buchner Tyler Buchner 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Helix | 2021 State CA were one of the top quarterback and receiver duos in the state.
Petry has very long strides for a 6-foot-2 receiver and makes tacklers miss in the open field. He had 12 offers before committing to Penn, including Boise State and San Diego State.
He is one of five California players in Penn’s 2021 recruiting class, including San Diego Section quarterback Aidan Sayin (Carlsbad). Devin Spencer Devin Spencer 6'3" | 265 lbs | OL Centennial - Corona | 2021 State CA of Centennial (Corona) is the other offensive player in the class from California and Nick Fryhoff Nick Fryhoff 6'5" | 230 lbs | DL Foothill | 2021 State CA (Foothill) and Nick Ostlund Nick Ostlund 6'3" | 260 lbs | DL St. Margaret's Episcopal | 2021 State CA (St. Margaret’s) round out the class.

One of OC’s best unsigned quarterbacks lands another offer
Dartanyon Moussiaux of Capistrano Valley (Mission Viejo) was offered by New Mexico Highlands University on Tuesday.
Moussiaux was the top passer in the very competitive South Coast League last season, throwing for 2,139 yards and 20 touchdowns. He was named “King of the Desert” at the 2020 Las Vegas Throw Down competition in August.
He is 6-foot-5 with good pocket presence and would have benefitted greatly from a normal full senior season Moussiaux also has an offer from Lake Erie College.
There is only one quarterback currently on New Mexico Highlands roster.
Top San Diego receiver opens up recruitment
Kamron Beachem Kamron Beachem 6'5" | 225 lbs | WR Oceanside | 2021 State CA (Oceanside) announced on Twitter that he has decommitted from Arizona State and reopened his recruitment.
He is 6-foot-5, 200 pounds and can either play receiver at the next level or add a few pounds and be a tight end. Beachem dominates defenders in the red zone and can win jump balls against anyone.
Beachem caught 34 passes for 551 yards and three touchdowns for Oceanside last season.
He committed to Arizona State in May and when he did not sign on the early signing day, it became a signal that the two sides would part ways. Arizona State did not renew the contract of recruiter Derek Hagan, who was the lead recruiter who inspired Beachem to commit.
Beachem has an offer from Eastern Michigan and hasn’t talked to any other schools due to his previous commitment. Now that he is available, expect Power Five schools to reach out and offer him.
Offers piling up for 2023 QB
Warren (Downey) quarterback Nicholas Iamaleava has received five offers since New Years Eve.
Michigan State, Florida State, UCLA, Utah and Arizona State have all offered the sophomore signal caller.
UCLA is the most surprising offer. The Bruins are known for not offering underclassmen until very late in the recruiting process. Iamaleava is the first player in the 2023 class to get an offer from UCLA.
Johnny Nansen is the lead recruiter who offered Iamaleava, which is significant because Nansen is first cousins with Iamaleava’s father. Head coach Chip Kelly made the offer, but Nansen will be doing the majority of the communication with Iamaleava and his family going forward.
Iamaleava has drawn early comparisons to Clemson quarterback and St. John Bosco standout DJ Uiagalelei.

Under the radar San Diego QB commits
Justus McComb from Granite Hills (El Cajon) committed to Southwest Minnesota State on December 30.
McComb is the definition of a dual-threat quarterback. He threw for 2,691 yards and 24 touchdowns last season and ran for 494 yards and seven touchdowns.
He was a three sport athlete at Granite Hills, also playing basketball and running track.
McComb performed well at the Team Makasi 1st around Exposure camp in San Diego a few weeks ago and would have had an excellent senior season for Granite Hills, which would have led to an increase in his recruitment.
Southwest Minnesota State head coach Cory Sauter offered McComb in late December and he wasted little time committing.
