, and for his effort, he earned a 3rd team selection as a linebacker on the Prep Redzone Showcase team. He is a legit athlete who moves well, but it goes further than that with him. His ability to get in and out of breaks is impressive. He also seems to have a great understanding of how to play as a linebacker. He has elite skills, which show how talented a player he is. I cannot wait to see his film next year, because he has the tools to go to the next level.

Was recently added to our 3rd-Team All-Camp list. Was selected as a notable camp attendee by Pat Weider Pat Weider 6'3" | 185 lbs | WR/DB Muhlenberg | 2025 PA , as well as coaches present. I didn’t get to fully focus on linebackers as much as I would have liked, yet I’m willing to share notes from what college coaches present told me post-camp. Many coaches in attendance went on about Saurman’s adaptability throughout drills. Makes sense, considering Saurman was one of the more versatile prospects in attendance. A backer who can play safety and wideout, some coaches in attendance wanted to see him at back during drills. This all a testament to his multi-faceted skill set. I saw Saurman react to situations quickly. Great anticipator in this setting. I wish I had the chance to watch him a bit more. I’ll be on the lookout to read Pat Weider Pat Weider 6'3" | 185 lbs | WR/DB Muhlenberg | 2025 PA ‘s more detailed analysis on all things backs and backers releasing in the coming days.

is a good linebacker prospect. I like the way he attacks downhill. He runs well and is a demon attacking against the offense. He has a great feel for the game and seems to understand how to attack at different angles. He has a good ability to tackle in the open field as well. I am excited to see him at the showcase because I think he has the skills to be a top performer.

6’0, 195 pounds. another do-it-all prospect that helps glue this team together. Can play several alignments in the secondary, tough enough to help out in the box. Can catch the football, caught 20 receptions as a junior at Pennington.
LIVE EVAL* I had an especially good look at Saurman all night, as the MIKE backer was witnessed flying to the football left and right. Saurman aligned practically head-up on the center, being tasked with diagnosing the run and shooting gaps to kill run sets in their tracks. Saurman must have racked up 10-15 tackles in this one. Saurman also impacted special teams play, picking up a botched snap and running in for a 2pt conversion, while also blocking a Hill School punt as a gunner. Tack on a few PBUs too, kid was relentless, I credit his conditioning too. Saurman’s mid-season tape proves he’s almost exclusively served as Pennington’s Mike backer all year long. He’s currently ranked as the third-best two-way player among NJ’s class of 2027.

A prep school ATH, Luca Saurman is another piece who can play several positions on the field. Saurman has the speed to outrun everyone, including his own quarterback’s arm, when going vertical. Using his rather large frame, Saurman uses it shield defenders off at times. With the rock in his possession, we see Saurman utilize the stiff arm to accrue extra yards. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” are words Saurman lives by. As well as he uses his blockers, Saurman actively serves as a blocker, looking to level individuals. I feel as though he is capable of drive blocking, but at the very least we see him grab cloth to control his assignment. From the secondary, Saurman reacts to the ball-in-fight, even when in man coverage, to come off and lay the boom. Like any safety should be as the last line of defense, we see Saurman showcase extremely sure tackling. With clear vision, he fills alleys well in run support. Interestingly enough, we see Saurman high point the ball on defense, yet not on offense. Should he translate that skillset to the other side of the ball, as well as clean up his route running just a bit, Saurman has the upside to be one of the state’s premier two-way players for 2027.

is a defender I expect to rise quickly in the rankings. With the ability to line up anywhere in the secondary but really thriving as a free safety, Luca is a big time presence floating around in coverage. Intercepting the ball at the varsity level in 2023, Luca is one of the most experienced DBs in the 2027 class. Luca’s safety skills are impressive in multiple ways. In coverage, he tracks the ball extremely well and understands the flow of the play early on after the ball is snapped. He is also extremely quick in recognizing a run, darting up field, and breaking down to execute the tackle. Luca will be delivering punishing hits all season long in 2024.

has the potential to be one of the top receivers coming out of NJ in 2027. Racking up 284 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns, Luca displayed impressive catching abilities as a freshman. Lucas does an incredible job tracking the ball over his shoulder and can make the contested catch look easy. This is a player we will all become more familiar with come next fall.
