<span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 18pt;"><strong>Rankings Risers of Note</strong></span>
There a number of players that rose in the rankings after impressive Sr seasons, but these are the guys that standout the most...
[player_tooltip player_id="38908" first="JoJo" last="Johnson"]- Merrillville: From 15th to 5th ranked 2021 in Indiana. JoJo has been one of my favorite 2021 Midwest prospects, ever since my first in person eval of him winter after freshman season. He is a football junkie, loves to compete, and has been a special talent for years now. That being said... It took until this season for him to get the recruiting recognition he deserved. He was a human highlight reel who's recruiting stock skyrocketed as the season progressed. Once a borderline Power 5 recruit and Cincinnati commit, JoJo was able to catch enough attention with his Sr year play to sign with national power, Notre Dame. You will be seeing plenty of JoJo on TV in the coming years.
LB [player_tooltip player_id="38921" first="Jackson" last="Schott"]- Center Grove: From 27th to 20th ranked 2021 in Indiana. I have always been a big fan of Jackson, and he has continued to impress me every step pf the way. This is a LB prospect with great length, safety athleticism, and the physicality of a hard nosed LB. Schott signed with Miami (OH), and in my opinion he is one of the biggest steals out of Indiana. In my opinion, Jackson is a player with Power 5 upside all day. I am excited to follow his career at the next level.
QB [player_tooltip player_id="38948" first="Henry" last="Hesson"]- Avon: From 55th to to 25th ranked 2021 in Indiana. The panel of scouts and coaches really liked Henry going into the season, but everybody wanted to see him take that next step as a player, and game manager. He took that step and more. When college coaches evaluate HS QB prospects, they look for physical upside, and tend to recruit players with arm talent that they can mold mechanically. The one thing that you can rarely teach/mold is accuracy, and that is exactly where Hesson excels. He is a fantastic game manager, makes great decisions with the ball, and has the arm talent to match. Hesson is another steal out of the state for Miami (OH), as he signed there during the early signing period. Chances are that you will be seeing him behind center on national TV in the not so distant future.
ATH [player_tooltip player_id="38969" first="Devin" last="Mockobee"]- Booneville: From 76th to 31st ranked 2021 in Indiana. The panel of scouts and coaches knew that Mockobee had talent going into the year, but the group probably underestimated the type of impact player that he is, and will continue to be. As a stud on both offense and defense for Booneville, it will be interesting to see what position Navy chooses for him when he gets on campus. We cannot say enough about Devin's performance this year, and are excited to see what the future holds for him at the college level and beyond.
WR [player_tooltip player_id="38988" first="Luke" last="Lacey"]- Brownsburg : From 95th to 46th ranked 2021 in Indiana. The season had barely started when the PRZ staff knew Lacey would be shooting up the rankings. Luke had a major coming out party on national television week 2 against St Xavier (OH). Big time players, make big time plays, on big time stages... Lacey proved that the lights will never be too bright for him. Recording 9 catches for 144 yards and 2 clutch TD's, he was able to will his team to victory over one of the most prominent teams in the nation. His performance in that game will always stick with me, because it was one that few HS players can even dream about. Lacy is a D1 talent that is currently committed to Indianapolis over some Ivy League offers. Talk about a steal for the Greyhounds!
<span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 18pt;"><strong>Making Their Grand Entrance</strong></span>
These two players were on the PRZ staff radar going into the season, but these rankings are based off next level ability, and we just needed to see more before we could slot them in a good spot
OL [player_tooltip player_id="81698" first="Carter" last="DeGraaf"]- Center Grove: Carter makes his rankings debut as the 34th ranked player overall in Indiana. That is quite the leap considering there are 175 players in our final 2021 rankings. Carter is the prototype when it comes to size for the offensive line at the college level. Not only does he have the size, he backed it up with some stellar play on the year. You don't see a lot of players capable of moving the way he does at his size. Along with size and athleticism, he brings a physical aspect to his game, We all know how dominant Center Grove was this year, but with all of their skill, their dominance in the trenches could tend to get overlooked. Carter was one of the OL's bell cows and deserves a ton of credit for the season CG had. We knew Carter had D1 potential going into the season, we just needed to see more... He certainly delivered. Carter is committed to one of the top FCS programs in the country in Illinois State. He has some great football ahead of him, and looks to be just scratching the surface of what he can be as a prospect. This could be a player that many wonder how he didn't end up at a Power 5 school 4 years from now... He has that type of upside and Illinois State is getting a gem for their OL.
QB/ATH [player_tooltip player_id="81699" first="Nathan" last="McCahill"]- Cathedral: Making his debut at #45 in our final rankings, McCahill is a player that surpassed the expectations of pretty much everybody. He is another player that was on our radar heading into season, but the transformation he made, from role player to star, was something that dreams are made of. Not only did he transform himself into one of the best players in the state, he went from unranked to a finalist for PRZ player of the year. This kid is a high level competitor and a flat out winner. He sits with an offer from Valparaiso right now, but he is definitely a player that falls in the category of "top unsigned" players in the state, and he should continue to heat up as the next signing day approaches. The position he plays at the next level reminds to be seen, but he can slot at a number of spots (including QB). There are few available players in Indiana that you would rather have with the ball in their hands when the game is on the line, and that is something that is sure to catch coaches attention in the coming months.
