One of the most anticipated parts of football season is waking up on Saturday morning and turning on your choice of "gameday" programing. As 2023 high school schedules roll out here are the locations that should be expected to host if the show was reciprocated on the high school level.

August 25 - Oxford @ Lafayette

One of the biggest rivalries in the state of Mississippi moves to week 1 for the 2023 campaign. It is no secret that 2022 was not what Oxford had anticipated but they did still manage to knock off their county rival, Lafayette. Anthony Hart has a big one on deck for his first game at the helm of the Commodores.

September 1 - Starkville @ West Point

Year in and year out this is one that everyone in the state looks forward to. Two powerhouses always in the conversation for a state championship. Stars will be alive under the lights. [player_tooltip player_id='139597' first='Braylon' last='Burnside'], [player_tooltip player_id='344052' first='Kahnen' last='Daniels'], [player_tooltip player_id='273258' first='Trey' last='Petty'], [player_tooltip player_id='370239' first='Zay' last='Lowery']...

September 8 - Jefferson Davis County @ Laurel

Over the years it has been proven that Jeff Davis County isn't afraid to play up in classification. They will do just that at Laurel in the non-division slate. [player_tooltip player_id='344054' first='JJ' last='Claiborne'] is a very underrated RB that will be on display.

September 15- East Webster @ Baldwyn

There is just something about small town Friday night football and we could not go thru the whole slate without getting to one of the best 1A atmospheres in the state.

September 22 - Ocean Springs @ Picayune

This is big time. Ocean Springs made it to the South State final in 2022. Picayune won it all in the 5A division. Both will be among favorites again in 2023. The Maroon Tide will be appointment viewing with [player_tooltip player_id='344053' first='Chris' last='Davis'] on the offensive side and [player_tooltip player_id='344138' first='Jamonta' last='Waller'] on the defensive.

September 29 - Louisville @ Houston

The Wildcats on Louisville are always in the conversation. Houston is led by one of the top o-line prospects in the state in [player_tooltip player_id='311644' first='Will' last='Echoles'] and Southern Miss commit at RB [player_tooltip player_id='161267' first='Jalen' last='Washington']. What a matchup to open 3-4A play.

October 6 - Amory @ Itawamba AHS

Back to back weeks with the Dampeers with Baylor as the head man at Houston and Brooks the head man at Amory. The Panthers want to get back to the State Title game after winning 2 years ago and losing by a point in the North Half Championship last year. IAHS will be led by another difference maker at QB who is starting to turn heads in John Austin Wood.

October 13 - Brandon @ Oak Grove

The Dogs came up just short of a title in 2022. Oak Grove was a favorite going into the year but sputtered a bit. By this point in the division slate it will be time to make a move to the top of the standings. [player_tooltip player_id='616688' first='PJ' last='Woodland'] and [player_tooltip player_id='617237' first='Caleb' last='Moore'] will make up one of the best defensives in the state. [player_tooltip player_id='273250' first='Landon' last='Varnes'] will have his work cut out as the signal caller on the other side of the ball.

October 20 - Lake Cormorant @ South Panola

South Panola in 5A could be the first team to truly challenge West Point in the north in ages. The Gators have the best player in the state in [player_tooltip player_id='336104' first='Kamarion' last='Franklin'].

October 27 - Corinth @ Clarksdale

A trip to the delta has to be made and what better place than Clarksdale. [player_tooltip player_id='616683' first='Patrick' last='Broomfield'] could be the next great DB to come from the area.

November 2 - Starkville @ Tupelo

These two teams gave us two of the best games in the state last year. Once in the regular season and once in the playoffs. This will be a QB battle for the ages between Petty of Starkville and [player_tooltip player_id='344100' first='Jeremiah' last='Harrell'].
