Continue ReadingWith the class of 2021 finishing up their recruitments and a ton of guys already signed, it’s time to begin looking towards the class of 2022 that will be taking center stage come March. In Pennsylvania, the class of 2022 is deep across the board and has some strong depth at the quarterback position especially.
Today, we begin looking at the class of 2022 heading into this offseason and the top-10 players at each position. The first position up, the quarterbacks. The quarterback class in 2022 has high potential overall with the top half of the class all having the potential to play the FCS or FBS level.
One player you may notice has been not listed below but appears in our rankings is Daniel Shoch Daniel Shoch 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Selinsgrove | 2022 GA . Shoch, formerly of Selinsgrove, has moved to Georgia. Shoch originally was ranked as our No.7 quarterback and No.126 player overall. Any quarterback ranked below him for the sake of this article has been up one spot but their overall ranking will remain the same.
1. Beau Pribula Beau Pribula 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Central York | 2022 State PA (Central York): No. 1 QB / No. 24 overall
Our top quarterback in the state for the class of 2022 is Beau Pribula Beau Pribula 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Central York | 2022 State PA . Now, Pribula will be moving up quite a bit overall when we next update our rankings but for now, he’s our no.24 player overall. Pribula this season helped lead Central York to the 6A state title game where they fell to St. Joes Prep 62-13. But Pribula still had a fantastic season, completing 67.5% of his passes for 2,156-yards and 34 touchdowns while adding 519-yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground. He had just eight turnovers on the season, seven interceptions, and one fumble. It was a huge step forward for Pribula in his first full year as a starter after posting modest stats as a sophomore. A special talent, Pribula is an exciting player who can extend plays, find the open man, and make strong and accurate passes. He’s a player who could be a multi-year starter at a Power Five program and has already made his college commitment to Penn State.
2. Gavin Miller Gavin Miller 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB West Allegheny | 2022 State PA (West Allegheny): No. 2 QB / No.53 overall
Before going in-depth on Miller it is worth noting that while he is a very strong quarterback prospect who could play at a high level of college football, it’s tough to say if football is in the cards for Miller. Currently, the West Allegheny prospect is committed to playing baseball at Auburn and has received a grade of 9 from Perfect Game. A grade of 9 per Perfect Game represents a player who is a “potential top 10 round pick and/or highest level college prospect”.
That being said, on the gridiron, Miller has a quality skill set. He completed 55.5% of his passes this season for 1,527-yards and 12 touchdowns over seven games. He did, however, throw eight interceptions. If Miller would choose to go the football route post-high school, he would need to work on his accuracy quite a bit. But overall, Miller is a traditional pocket passer who has good pocket presence to go along with a strong arm and at times has an effortless throwing motion, there’s a lot to like about him when it comes to his potential as a quarterback.
3. Marqui Adams Marqui Adams 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Neumann-Goretti | 2022 State PA (Saints John Neumann and Maria Goretti) – No. 3 QB / No. 68 overall
A player that I’m personally very high on, Adams is a fun player to watch and is electric with the ball in his hands. A dual-threat quarterback, Adams is great at extending plays, making something out of nothing, and keeping his eyes downfield. As a passer, Adams has good arm strength and accuracy and can put the ball into some rather tight windows. There are some floating passes that he’ll have to be careful with at the next level but that’s something that could be easily fixed with more coaching and development. Adams is just as impressive in the classroom as he is on the field, boasting a 4.7 GPA. His potential right now is that of a starting quarterback at the FCS level in our opinion but could rise with improvement.
4. Ethan Kohler Ethan Kohler 6'2" | 215 lbs | QB Perkiomen Valley | 2022 State PA (Perkiomen Valley) – No.4 QB / No.111 overall
In eight games this past fall as a junior, Kohler completed 64% of his passes for 1,442-yards and 16 touchdowns. He threw just one interception on the season, bringing that number down from seven as a sophomore. Through 26 games in his high school career, Kohler has thrown for 4,128-yards, 40 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. While not a huge threat on the ground, he has 13 career rushing touchdowns. He currently projects to a quarterback who can play at the FCS level.
5. Max Mosey Max Mosey 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Central Dauphin | 2022 State PA (Central Dauphin) – No.5 QB / No. 118 overall
Mosey is a high-potential quarterback and someone who could climb in the rankings throughout this offseason and next fall. Mosey didn’t post eye-opening stats this season for Central Dauphin but he has a strong base of skillset and has a lot of what you would look for in a starting quarterback at the next level. This past season, he completed 63.4% of his passes for 990-yards, 13 touchdowns, and five interceptions. We currently project him as an FCS quarterback.
6. Tony Powell Tony Powell 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Middletown | 2022 State PA (Middletown) – No.6 QB / No.123 overall
Powell has great size at 6-foot-5 and 210-pounds and has some nice film available from his sophomore season though we’re still waiting on his junior tape. He has a nice arm with quality arm strength though on his deep balls he could use a bit more power behind his throws. On short and intermediate throws, he has a much greater zip and hits his receivers in stride. Based on his sophomore tape, there’s quite a bit to like about Powell but we’ll need to see his junior tape to get a better idea of his game as it currently stands.
7. Kellan Stahl Kellan Stahl 5'11" | 190 lbs | QB Richland | 2022 State PA (Richland) – No.7 QB / No.128 overall
Stahl completed 55.4% of his passes this season for 1,493-yards and 17 passing touchdowns in 10 games while adding on 14 touchdowns on the ground. As a sophomore, he threw for 43 touchdowns and had 48 total on the season while throwing just seven interceptions. Stahl fits the mold of the modern-day smaller quarterback that we’ve seen have great success at the college level. A true dual-threat quarterback, Stahl can beat defenses in multiple ways. He currently projects to an FCS quarterback in our opinion.
8. Jabarhi Cleckley Jabarhi Cleckley 6'3" | 225 lbs | QB Aliquippa | 2022 PA (Alquippa) – No.8 QB / No.143 overall
Formerly at Beaver Falls, Cleckley is now at Aliquippa and like Powell, we are waiting to see his junior tape before we make too many comments on his play to provide the best insights. Based on sophomore highlights, while he does have the ability to take off, Cleckley is much more suited to be a pocket passer thanks to his size and arm strength. He has good pocket awareness and has the ability to find his man quickly whether it be short, intermediate, or deep passes. He doesn’t panic in the pocket either even when pressure is bearing down on him which is nice to see in a young quarterback.
9. Max Blanc Max Blanc 6'5" | 205 lbs | QB Bethel Park | 2022 State PA (Bethel Park) – No. 9 QB / No.155 overall
Another quarterback with great size at 6-foot-5 and 200-pounds, Blanc overall is a quarterback that will likely rise quite a bit in our updated rankings. Blanc has great touch on his passes and throws the ball effortlessly. He has good arm strength and has a nice zip on his ball when needed. While currently, an FCS projected quarterback, it’s easy to see why there are a few Group of Five programs who are interested in the Bethel Park quarterback. This offseason and next fall could be huge for Blanc in his recruitment.
10. Quinn Fuller Quinn Fuller 6'0" | 165 lbs | QB Mars | 2022 State PA (Mars) – No.10 QB / No.156 overall
A multiple-sport athlete, Fuller is committed to playing lacrosse at Jacksonville University, a commitment he made this past November. It would seem likely that Fuller is firm in that commitment. For Mars this past season, Fuller completed 39.4% (28-of-71) of his passes for 446-yards and two touchdowns throughout eight games.
