It is always good for guys to be able to go against some of the best talent the state has to offer. The defensive backs that attended this camp went against some nice receivers.
Lekih Freeman Lekih Freeman 5'10" | 150 lbs | DB Saltillo | 2024 State MS , Saltillo, 2024
Freeman has been working very hard to improve his game this offseason. He isn’t the biggest guy on the field, but he plays with a lot of heart. Freeman has some very good hips and good ball skills. He knows how to stay on top of a receiver’s top shoulder. He knows how to keep his space and allow himself to have recover room for comeback routes. Freeman was one of the best defensive backs in attendance. His stock is going to rise this season.
Micharyio Spann, Wingfield, 2024
Spann is a long defensive back that can play on the islands or line up at free safety. He even looks like he can pack on some pounds and be a hybrid linebacker. Spann did a great job of competing during the one-on-one sessions at the Valley State Mega Camp. Spann has great speed that allows him to be able to make very quick cuts. He has some good hips that allow him to spin his body around when he is caught out of position. Spann needs to make sure he hits the weight room very hard this offseason.
Dillon Ruth, Tupelo, 2024
Ruth was out there holding it down for North Mississippi yesterday. He is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound cornerback out of Tupelo. Ruth is a very quick corner that has very good hips. He is a guy that I think will have a breakout season this year. He is in a division that is going to allow him to face some very good receivers. This is the chance for him to show that he is ready to play on the next level.
Trevionn Morton Trevionn Morton 6'2" | 190 lbs | DB Wingfield | 2025 State MS , Wingfield, 2025
Morton is a guy that has a lot of speed. He was able to show that at this camp. Morton does a good job of moving around. He has some amazing hips. Morton also has some good ball skills. Morton needs to work on making sure he keeps his hands up when he is playing close man coverage. Especially at the line. Your hands at feet must be cohesive when you are on the islands. This was my first time being able to see Morton in person. I was impressed.
Conrad Levy, Conroe (Tex), 2024
Levy was very impressive. He made the long trip all the way from Texas. Conrad is a division one defensive back that has a lot of upsides. He is a guy that can handle the twitch that some receivers have. He is very good in man press coverage. Levy also knows how to play off the ball. He is a guy to know.
