The early signing period for football began on Wednesday and we saw over 30 athletes across Oklahoma sign on the dotted line with their future colleges. Now, the majority of those players were signing with D1 programs. The next signing period will begin on the first Wednesday in February. For every prospect in Oklahoma, it’ll be a fast six weeks as colleges try to fill out their signing classes. For a complete list of yesterday’s signings, you can check that out RIGHT HERE. For now, we take a look at the top ten prospects in Oklahoma’s 2021 class on the offensive side of the ball that are still available.
Caden Hendren Caden Hendren 6'2" | ATH Piedmont | 2021 State OK – Wide Receiver – Piedmont
The first player on this list is Piedmont’s Caden Hendren Caden Hendren 6'2" | ATH Piedmont | 2021 State OK and you can make the argument that he could be considered a top available defensive prospect as well. However, we certainly like what he brings to the table as a wide receiver. Piedmont has two big time players at that position and should be getting more pub than they are. In addition to Hendren, Kameron West Kameron West 6'3" | ATH Piedmont | 2021 State OK is a prospect that should be high on recruiters’ list. Both players bring plenty of versatility to the game and do a variety of things very well. While Piedmont certainly didn’t throw the ball much, when they did, Hendren and West made plays.
Dominique Dunn Dominique Dunn 6'2" | RB Mustang | 2021 State OK – Running Back – Mustang
There wasn’t much hype around Mustang’s Dominique Dunn Dominique Dunn 6'2" | RB Mustang | 2021 State OK coming into the 2020 season but that all changed as soon as he hit the field. Dunn made one of the biggest leaps as a senior and it also helped that he got taller and bigger. He was an absolute force for Mustang as a power back and has the potential to be that at the next level or a tight end prospect in the right offense. Dunn has been a breakout star in 2020 and because he bloomed late, his recruitment has been a little delayed. But as his tape continues to make the rounds, expect that to take off here in the next few weeks.
Dorian Plumley Dorian Plumley 6'1" | ATH El Reno | 2021 State OK – Quarterback – El Reno
El Reno’s Dorian Plumley Dorian Plumley 6'1" | ATH El Reno | 2021 State OK has been one of the more electrifying athletes in 5A football over the last three seasons. When you look at Plumley’s game, and how it projects to college, it might not be at the quarterback position. However, look at Daniel Hishaw, former Moore quarterback, who is now a freshman running back at Kansas. Plumley can make that same transition to the next level. Hishaw has been an impact player for Kansas this year and Plumley can replicate that for whoever pulls the trigger and signs the El Reno standout.
Garret Humann Garret Humann 6'5" | OL Westmoore | 2021 State OK – Offensive Lineman – Westmoore
The only offensive lineman on this list is Westmoore’s Garret Humann Garret Humann 6'5" | OL Westmoore | 2021 State OK . The senior class isn’t loaded with players at this position but they do have a few legitimate guys who could play at the D1 level. Most of those prospects already signed on Wednesday and that leaves Humann as one of the last remaining prospects for lower level D1 programs to come after. Humann is without a doubt the best offensive lineman prospect available in the 2021 class and because of that, should be a high priority for colleges in this part of the country.
Jalen Teague Jalen Teague 6'3" | WR Booker T Washington | 2021 State OK – Wide Receiver – Booker T Washington
This one is an absolute head scratcher to us. There are always prospects every year that for whatever reason, just don’t receive the recruiting interest that I feel is warranted. And we have several of those prospects in this 2021 class but one that just doesn’t make any sense is Booker T Washington’s Jalen Teague Jalen Teague 6'3" | WR Booker T Washington | 2021 State OK . Other prospects might not have the size for the next level and that’s why they are under-recruited but that is not the case for Teague. He is a monster at the wide receiver position and should be right at the top of the priority list for coaches looking for a big wideout.
Luke Tarman Luke Tarman 6'2" | ATH Bishop McGuinness | 2021 State OK – Quarterback – Bishop McGuinness
This one is a no brainer as Bishop McGuinness senior Luke Tarman Luke Tarman 6'2" | ATH Bishop McGuinness | 2021 State OK has been one of the absolute best players in Oklahoma this season. All he did this year was throw for over 2,000 yards and run for over 2,000 yards and help Bishop McGuinness make another run to the state championship game. Similar to Plumley at El Reno, the projection for Tarman more than likely puts him at a different position at the next level. However, as a passer, he is pretty polished and a position change isn’t guaranteed. Tarman should be at the top of recruiting lists for colleges in this area.
Nasir Kemper Nasir Kemper 6'2" | WR Lawton MacArthur | 2021 State OK – Wide Receiver – Lawton MacArthur
When it comes to the ten guys on this list, Lawton MacArthur’s Nasir Kemper Nasir Kemper 6'2" | WR Lawton MacArthur | 2021 State OK should be considered the best available prospect on the offensive side of the ball. There are some versatile athletes in this class but none are as versatile as Kemper. He is a compete impact player who has dominated the last two seasons at Lawton Mac. Whether he’s lined up at running back, wide receiver or in the return game, Kemper is a threat every time he gets the ball. Kemper should be the top priority for colleges looking for an offensive weapon.
Qwontrel Walker Qwontrel Walker 5'8" | RB Stillwater | 2021 State OK – Running Back – Stillwater
The recruitment, or lack there of, with Stillwater running back Qwontrel Walker Qwontrel Walker 5'8" | RB Stillwater | 2021 State OK has been well documented. We’ve written about him plenty of times this season and it comes down to one thing at the end of every conversation. He’s 5’7. However, like we have said plenty of times, throw on the tape and watch how he performs against some of the state’s toughest teams. Look at the workload that Stillwater has put on him and how he gets stronger as the game goes on. In a few years, Walker will be a college star and people will wonder why he didn’t have more opportunities.
Sherrod Davis Sherrod Davis 6'3" | WR Del City | 2021 State OK – Wide Receiver – Del City
Similar to Caden Hendren Caden Hendren 6'2" | ATH Piedmont | 2021 State OK at Piedmont, you can make that same argument for Del City senior Sherrod Davis Sherrod Davis 6'3" | WR Del City | 2021 State OK . The Del City standout is a versatile athlete who could end up on either side of the ball and honestly he has the talent to play both sides. But just like with Hendren, we lean to the offensive side of the ball with Davis. Davis is a big athletic wide out who also has no problem being very physical on either side of the ball. It was obviously a down year for Del City this season but Davis should still be considered one of the best overall athletes in this senior class.
Steven Brown Steven Brown 5'10" | WR Stillwater | 2021 State OK – Wide Receiver – Stillwater
We’ve written this before but we’ll say it again here. Stillwater has several players that are some of the best at their position but are being overlooked because of their size. Just like Walker, Stillwater wide receiver Steven Brown Steven Brown 5'10" | WR Stillwater | 2021 State OK should be considered one of the top wide receiver prospects in the state among college recruiters. Throw on the tape and see what he brings to the field. Speed, speed and more speed. We’ve said this as well but Brown is one of the quickest wide receivers in the state and he has no problem separating from his opponent by getting in and out of his cuts in the blink of an eye.
