Today is the first day that football athletes can sign with their colleges and make it official with their letter of intent. While the majority of the state’s signees will sign in February, we’ll see a good number sign on the dotted line today, mostly players signing with D1 programs. We’ll have a complete breakdown right here on each signing that happens across the state of Oklahoma today. More signing day content will hit the website throughout the day as well.

Thomas lineman Aden Kelley Aden Kelley 6'2" | DL Thomas | 2021 State OK was one of the top prospects during the previous offseason. He absolutely blew up in January and his stock only continued to get higher and higher. Kelley would literally reach the pinnacle for high school athletes as he was selected to play in the Army All American game in January. Kelley would commit to the Cowboys in January and join an OSU class already littered with Oklahoma talent. Kelley has helped his high school team Thomas all the way to the Class A state championship game, where they will play Cashion on Saturday night at UCO’s Wantland Stadium.

– RUNNING BACK – UNION
Signed With Arkansas
One of the state’s best offensive weapons, AJ Green AJ Green 6'0" | RB Union | 2021 State OK has been on the radar for years when it came to this 2021 class. It was apparent when Green was a freshman that he would have the potential to be one of the state’s top prospects. Over the last few years, we’ve seen plenty of discussion about where Green would play at the next level but we think that conversation is over as Green is headed to Arkansas to be a running back. As a senior, Green torched defenses and showed why he’s one of the more dynamic offensive playmakers in Oklahoma. After committing to Arkansas in June to the Razorbacks, Green helped Union to a semifinal appearance.

– LINEBACKER – HERITAGE HALL
Signed With Air Force
Heritage Hall’s AJ Sirls AJ Sirls 6'2" | LB Heritage Hall | 2021 State OK is one of the more versatile athletes you’ll find in Oklahoma. It’s not very often that you see a linebacker prospect that also doubles as an offensive lineman but that was the case for Heritage Hall and Sirls this year. Because of the need, Sirls spent half the time on offense as a lineman. He ended up being a true two-way player for the Chargers this season as they fell in the semifinals for the second straight year. However, at the next level, it’ll be all defense for Sirls as the future Air Force linebacker will be focused on that. He committed to Air Force earlier this fall and chose the Falcons over several offers from programs across the country. Today, he signed on the dotted line and is headed to Air Force.

At the start of his high school career, Pawhuska’s Bryce Drummond Bryce Drummond 6'3" | QB Pawhuska | 2021 State OK was just the best athlete on the field. He would continue to be that as a sophomore and then his junior season happened and that’s when he stopped being an athlete and started being a quarterback. Drummond continued to progress as a QB prospect and then had an absolutely lights out senior season. Before his senior year, Drummond was recruited by several programs but he settled on North Texas. He committed to the Mean Green during the spring time and has stuck with that commitment. This year, his QB coach was North Texas’ all time leading passer Mason Fine, a Locust Grove graduate, and the state’s all time leading passer.

It’s a coincidence that they are now teammates. But for the last several years, the biggest conversations around Green and Stephens was where they would play at the next level. Stephens is one of the more versatile athletes in the state and played a variety of positions on both sides of the ball for John Marshall. However, when he is at his best, it appears to be at the wide receiver position. Arkansas lands another dynamic offensive weapon from Oklahoma in Stephens as the John Marshall standout committed to the Razorbacks back in early August and has now signed on the dotted line.

We’ll end up seeing a ton of players sign with programs from D2, D3 and Jucos during the February signing period. However, Hernandez signed with Bethel at the first opportunity. The Southmoore standout has also been selected to play in the Army All American game and is considered arguably the best kicker in the country. Little earned a scholarship offer from Arkansas, among other schools across the country. He ended up committing to the Razorbacks. Little and kickers across the country certainly have a much more difficult path to being recruited because of the numbers and the limitations at that position. However, when you’re considered one of, if not the best kicker in the nation, you move to to the top of the list like Little.

Choctaw wide receiver Chase Jackson Chase Jackson 6'1" | WR Choctaw | 2021 State OK was one of the absolute breakout stars of the 2019 season. He emerged as one of the top wide outs in the state and that only continued as the offseason began and his recruiting heated up. Jackson quickly became one of the top wide receiver prospects in Oklahoma’s 2021 class. On May 3rd, the anniversary of his mom’s passing, Jackson committed to TCU. He’s remained loyal to the Horned Frogs and they’ve remained loyal to him. In the first game of the season, Jackson had a season-ending leg injury. Following his sophomore season, Oliver became a household name in recruiting circles as his recruitment really started to take off. The Rams had a very young offense in 2020 in their skill players and quarterback. The senior leadership of Gilbert, anchoring the offensive line up front certainly brought them along quicker throughout the season. He certainly brings versatility to the field as he can move down and play linebacker or move back into the secondary. Del City was supposed to have a special 2020 season but they fell short of their ultimate goals. That can certainly put a lot of pressure on a young high schooler but Downs handled it with absolute class. He never let that pressure get to him and he continued to get better and better over the last few seasons. Downs was the very first prospect in this senior class to give his verbal commitment when he committed to Oklahoma during October of his junior season. That would end up paying off for both sides as Smith would have a breakout season as a junior and then helped lead the Bulldogs to an undefeated season and state championship as a senior. Over the last two seasons, Smith has racked up close to 30 sacks. He’s an absolute force on the end of a defensive line and still has a high ceiling with room to grow. Both players played both sides of the ball and it was tough to decide where they would naturally fit. For Hunt, that question is still unanswered as he could end up being a variety of things at the next level. Putnam City North’s Jeff Nwankwo Jeff Nwankwo 6'6" | WR Putnam City North | 2021 State OK is a great example of what can happen when you don’t focus on just one sport. The 2020 season was Nwankwo’s first playing football after being a standout on the basketball court for years. It was apparent halfway thru the 2020 season that Nwankwo had natural gifts at the wide receiver position and would become a legitimate prospect in football. He helped an explosive PC North offense and would eventually start picking up offers from programs across the country. However, after throwing on the helmet and pads, it was very clear that Mukes would not only be a football player, but he would be considered one of the absolute best in the 2021 class. After a breakout junior season, Mukes’ recruitment absolutely skyrocketed and he was one of, if not the hottest recruits in Oklahoma, picking up new offers virtually every day. We don’t see Toledo coming into Oklahoma and signing many Oklahoma prospects. Don’t get me wrong, Toledo recruits Oklahoma actively but actually landing a prospect has been a different story. That’s not the case here as Casady’s Lennard Kuhl Lennard Kuhl 6'3" | TE Casady | 2021 State OK has signed with Toledo. Kuhl is one of the more underrated prospects in Oklahoma’s 2021 class. A lot of that has to do with the school he plays for. He plays for Casady, in Oklahoma City, and they don’t play in the OSSAA. Because of that, Casady doesn’t get as much pub as every other program.
